It used to be turning off almost every time I was stopping and I always drive Sport . But not anymore. I have tried Comfort, Eco, Custom, all the same. Currently, the weather is good, almost 70. Is it a defect?

Thanks

Are you referring to the Idle/Stop and Go feature not working anymore? There is switch/button in the center console to turn it on/off.

ISG is a fidgety gimmick; your battery is probably showing enough age that the charge isn't up to powering the ISG like a fresh battery could. (I think the feature is stupid and always turn mine off as the first thing after starting the car.)

Yes, I am referring to ISG. It is ON. The ember light comes up on the dash, so it is on.

The light on the dash in orange comes on when i have idle stop go active (the light over the center button is off) and i put the car into 'manual mode' (gt1) and it prevents the stop go from working but lights up to tell you its active.
This is what i have gathered myself. If you deactivate the stop go from the middle button the light on the dash never comes up and of you go to normal auto it functions normaly.

For me the light in the center is on. When I stop Amber light in the Dash comes on but the engine never shuts down. It used to work. Right now the weather is almost Summer here in Chicago. I wouldn't care much about it, however dont wanna think that it can be an indication of a defect. Like I said, I tried different modes, all the same. I wish it would be an easy way of testing it.

It’s not a defect. There are conditions that must be met for ISG to work. Read the forum threads or your manual. Please.

These are the conditions to meet:
Condition of ISG system operation The ISG system will operate under the following condition: • The driver’s seatbelt is fastened • The driver’s door and hood are closed • The brake vacuum pressure is adequate • The battery sensor is activated and the battery is sufficiently charged • Outside temperature is not too low or too high • The vehicle is driven over a constant speed and stops • The climate control system satisfies the conditions • The vehicle is sufficiently warmed up • The incline is gradual • The steering wheel is turned less than 180 degrees and then the vehicle stops

Which one do you think is never met? And if something is constantly not met dont you think it could be a defect?

Most likely battery charge level is the main culprit. That's the starting point. "Outside temp not too low or high" and "climate control system" of course go together, and are not quantifiable in any empirical sense, being also tied to battery level, which is "judged adequate" or not based on demand of the climate control system, which is engaged based on outside temperature. Etc.

9/10 times it’s the battery voltage. U simply aren’t driving the car enough to recharge it enough.

the ISG is very sensitive to many factors so if doesn't turn off it could be many things not a big deal, there is so many factors that governs the function of the ISG so I doubt yours is malfunctioning.

Mark, I'm sure the car is fine. Given it's starting to get colder, the ISG may not be working at the same stops you were used to in the summer. I suppose it could be the battery but I've seen you post here before, isn't your car relatively new?

My car does the same thing. ISG worked maybe twice this summer. Even after long drives. I had it in and out to the dealer last fall and they thought the cold weather affected it a lot as the battery is in an uninsulated wheel well, so it gets cold easily, and then ISG doesn’t work. It took them a while to figure out. I got a new battery, and even tire sensors added to my winter tires for free to try and fix the issue. I was expecting it to start working again this spring. It didn’t. Annoys the hell out of me that this feature is so finicky.

Yes, my car is new. That's why I am having concerns.
