New owner of a 2022 GT2 AWD. I've only got about 300 miles on it and I'm noticing when I slow down to turn the car "lurches" at about 10mph. I'm in sport mode. It almost feels like the car is automatically engine braking - or maybe the brakes are grabbing harder than they should? I'm wondering if anyone else notices this on their car. Another thought - maybe since it's so new the computer is learning my driving style to program the transmission correctly?
Thanks
-Rich

I have a 2022 GT Elite (GT2) and it does the same thing. It is the transmission downshifting as you slow down. It is completely normal. If you don’t like this, you should be able to select coasting in the vehicle setup menus.

yep... it does it some in comfort mode to at a slower speed not as noticeable but in sport it's definitely a stronger shift down to first around 7-10 mph ...

yes its a "sports car transmission " and its harsh at times

Sport mode grabs gears closer to the power band (higher RPM) so it lurches a bit when downshifting. Shouldn't feel it as much in comfort.

In sport mode, it selects the gear that keeps the engine rev'ed up a little higher so everything spools up quicker. This means downshifting at a higher speed giving a more noticeable feel since the RPM's drive higher.

Same here - even in other non-sport modes the downshift nearing a stop is intense. It downshifts near the bottom end like my Silverado 3500 with an Allison transmission in trailer mode. Although, the Stinger is a bit more aggressive IMHO - maybe because of 8 spd vs. 5 spd.

I've tried to learn to feather my brake pedal pressure to ease up when I know it's getting ready to down shift near a stop. Seems to ease the stop with less lurch.

As the car gets more miles this will subside. At ~3100 miles I barely feel it any more in comfort (with the 2.5T). It was very pronounced when newer.

It's normal. Mine did it pretty hard but maybe it was the fact that I was low on transmission fluid. After filling it the sensation lessened. Then I got the Tork stage 2 tcu tune and the down shifts are back to aggressive in sport mode. It legit feels like a manual car when the transmission is cold.

I was wondering about this too. Thank you for making the thread! I was wondering what was going on. I almost took it back to the dealership for them to tell me what was going on. I looked at the forums and people were saying that it was most likely the transmission, but it happened so much. I thought it was like a bad autobrake feature.

My Kia Forte a turbo does it, the Stinger does it, even on comfort mode. Totally normal. In fact it's actually a good thing as the vehicle selects a lower gear, helps with braking, it cuts fuel so saves a bit and allows you to accelerate harder since the gear is lower and the revs are higher.

I guess it's different of you're used to Camry's and Corollas which coast in gear.

Yeah I am lol came from a '04 Camry

Yeah those things drive awfully. Even the new Camry feels sloppy.
Mine was relatively smooth for a car with 275k miles on it. I mean, I didn't expect much (It's a Camry), and I didn't really drive a lot of other newer cars before grabbing the stinger so I can't speak from experience. All the Camrys always feel sluggish to me though. I know they aren't made for speed, but they just feel weak.

Yes they're velvety smooth and very reliable which is about all they're good at.

Very interesting. Mine was doing the same thing. I took it in to the dealer to take care of some other things and the they decided to replace the transmission because of the downshifting.

mine had done the same thing for a bit , i unplugged the batt and let it sit over night , fired it up and did the trans adaption procedure and its smooth as butta now . well see if it lasts

I too have noticed pretty jarring downshifting. I tried to select coasting on the custom mode but not sure if it’s working. Interestingly the lateral seat bolstering option also isn’t activating despite being selected.

Yeah Im not sure if my seat bolstering has ever worked. I have a GT1, when I put it into sport nothing with the seat happens. Also, coasting helps a lot on gas but you'll still feel the transmission coming back on after coasting and it's still pretty jarring. At times it felt extremely rough, so I turned it back off. I used it for like 2-3 months. At times, it was smooth other times, it felt like the car jumped off the tires

well, only the gt2 has the adjustable side bolsters that squeeze you.
