I have a 2019 Kia Stinger GTS that I’ve absolutely loved since purchasing a little over a year and a half ago. It’s my daily driver and I’ve put a little over 17,000 miles on it. I’ve never had one issue with it until I got the recall work done on March 8th. I’d always had positive experiences with this service department, but was somewhat frustrated by the time it took to get the recall work completed and the multiple trips to the dealership, but whatever it was just inconvenient. After the recall work was finished my husband picked it up for me and on his way home the infotainment system screen completely reset when he drove over a bump. I wanted to take it back immediately, but he felt like it might just be the system resetting after the work done to it. It took a couple days but the infotainment system started completely resetting anytime I was going over a bump. It got to the point that I could get it to consistently reset if I was going over 50mph and drove over the lane warning bumps. I called the dealership and the soonest appointment they could get me was two weeks away. My car continued this until about two days before my appointment when it completely stopped and I could not get it to reset. I cancelled my appointment because I knew they would tell me, “we can’t reproduce the problem.” The very next day it reset again. Then a couple days later when I went to leave work my car would not unlock. I would hit the unlock button and the lights would flash but it wouldn’t unlock. I got it unlocked with the key, and not even the button on the door would lock or unlock it. My car had also reset the climate control, my trip tracker had been reset, and my car had returned to comfort mode, even though I have to leave it in eco mode in my commute because I drive through a lot of school zones and don’t want a ticket. I immediately called the dealership and they said the soonest they could schedule me was over a month away. I spoke to the manager and he said I could bring it in in a couple of days. So in the couple days before I take it in the locks are working again, but almost ever night the car has clearly lost power or reset while off. So I bring it in, and 24 hours later I have to call them for them to tell me that they can reproduce the problem and it isn’t throwing a code. My husband and I drive to the dealership to discuss options. They said they went over the recall work and everything was right. They say I can leave it with them for a week for the tech to drive and see if it will reproduce the problem. So thankfully, but not surprisingly, the very next day it “turns off on them.” I get a message saying the “KIA engineers” are working on the issue. It’s now been over two weeks, and I had to call them twice for an update because they did not return my call. So today I finally got someone to tell me something, and I was told that they are replacing the screen, and they “took a break” from testing the “off/on” problem, but are starting again today. So I guess my questions to you all are, has anyone else had this problem after the recall? Why don’t they seem to think this phantom electrical problem and the recall is related? And what is a reasonable amount of time to expect something like this to take? I’m just trying really hard not to start freaking out, because I really love my car.
