Driveshare and Turo

Hey yall,

Does anyone here have experience renting or renting out a/their car on Hagerty Driveshare? I've looked into it and it seems to be a better enthusiast alternative to Turo, but I don't know anyone who has first hand experience. I'm considering listing my Stinger on there because I'm working from home now and I'm not driving it nearly as much. Still have a lot of research to do, but thinking about it.

Put in a serious consideration to the insurance and what it all covers. I'd hate to see a person try to assist paying off their car with rental income, only to have a buyer smash it up and you learn that particular incident isn't covered. Assume the worst of car renters.

Yeah I'm pretty sure personal insurance won't cover anything with a rental. I haven't looked into it with my personal insurance company yet (will do so before listing it, of course).

Part of Driveshare is Hagerty takes 35% of your rental money for insurance (and their own profit, but whatever). Hagerty is a reputable insurance company, but I'd want to make sure the Hagerty insurance covered my car.

Question is, if a renter wrecks my car and injures the other driver, who does that other driver go after for medical and damages? The renter? Hagerty? Me? All questions I need answered before I go forward.

Absolutely, make sure you know what risks you may be involved in. I sporadically watch the YouTube Channel Superspeedersrob, he runs an exotic car rental business and he has explained in a few videos the various things he has had to fight about/for when renters wreck his cars. It might be easier through Hagerty if they do have good coverage and take care of it, but there is always potential risk you should be aware of. The Stinger isn't an exotic, but it can be quick enough to get an inexperience driver into trouble.
