Decided to call my local Kia dealership spare parts, was curious to know how much a Stinger front windscreen with HUD costs, they guy told me AUD $2110.00.

Called AAMI Car Insurance today, and asked about Windscreen and Window Glass Insurance for my 2018 Kia Stinger GT windscreen with HUD (Heads Up Display), they quoted me AUD $71.00 a year on top of my Comprehensive Car Insurance, and that figure increases every year , i also asked if they would source a Genuine Kia front windscreen , or any other glass window on the rest of the vehicle, the insurance guy checked with his supervisor, and told me as long as the front windscreen , or rear hatch glass, or side windows meet Australian standards, that is what they will fit to my Stinger, and not genuine glass with the Kia logo on it as from the factory. I would prefer genuine Kia, but AUD $2110 is too much , or even an aftermarket front windscreen would still be expensive if i had no insurance.
I am curious how many Stinger owners/forum members actually have this windscreen insurance , and not just here in Australia, and what they are charged for it, and if sourcing an aftermarket windscreen by insurance companies is the same for everyone out there ?

I have it.....NRMA

Does the type of windscreen actually affect the HUD? I wasn’t aware of that.

There are two types of front windscreen for the Stinger, one for the models without HUD, and one for the models with HUD, the only difference between the two screens is where the HUD projects onto the glass.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
In the USA, it depends on the state mostly. Some states are required to cover the windshield, others aren't, and so insurance in those states don't really offer it. My state doesn't and my ins company won't let me buy it. Lol.

There are a few different windshields though. Lots of hardware is mounted on them, and is included when purchasing a windshield. The HUD area, Lane Keep Assist, and the Rain Sensor (for auto wipers) all have hardware on the windshield and add to cost. The basic windshield without any of that stuff is much less expensive. Lol. $379 vs $939 on the site I checked.

Yeah, I thought most insurance covered glass under Comprehensive coverage. And I know State Farm in my area allows you one windshield per year with no deductible; after that, I presume your regular Comp deductible applies.

I had to search the internet to find out what a windscreen was. Thought I might be missing out on a potential mod, only to find out it is the same windshield that came with my car...

Learned something new today! :D

I pay 100 buck deductible for my windshield replacements. And these windshields dont seem to be the sturdiest.
