Hello all,

I've been looking at Stingers recently, and so far, in my eyes, they seem like very solid cars. But, I wanted to quickly ask a question about the oil consumption amounts. I've seen how BMW's, Audi/Volkswagen and Mercedes engines tend to burn oil, heck, even Lexus F cars burn oil (RC F, GS F), and now I want to see if these cars have the same issues. So far, I'm in love with the looks and performance, and to me it looks like these cars might even be possibly some of the most reliable cars on the market today.

Thanks!

I've had mine for over a year and haven't noticed any excessive oil consumption. Can't say I have heard of any of those issues on this forum.

Excessive as in what? I know BMW and Audi say its OK for their normal road cars to burn upwards of a quart per 1,000 miles, and with their performance variants that its OK to burn a quart per 600 miles. Anything above that is considered 'excessive'. To be honest, one quart per oil change seems excessive in my opinion.

No oil consumption. Every time I've checked the dipstick shows full or even a tad more. I do my oil changes fairly "religiously"; at c. 4K miles; once I went 5.5K miles between oil changes.

20,000kms here and not a drop of burnt oil. Still takes a long time after an oil change before the oil even starts looking dirty.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Seems pretty sturdy then. Its actually nice to see a quality engine that doesn't burn oil in excessive amounts (or at all).

EDIT: How did you guys break-in your cars?

I used Sport mode for the first 600 miles (as per manual recommended distance), and the paddle shifters to make maintaining RPMs between 2K and 4K (as per the manual recommendation). On my first road trip, into my third week with the GT1, I reached 600 miles and almost immediately did my first high speed pass: dropped two gears down, with the paddle shifters, and pulled out and passed half a dozen mixed vehicles, including at least one 18 wheeler, then moved back into my lane; this was on a long, straight downhill stretch of Hwy 6 in central Utah. My son riding with me said: "Dad! You're going 135 MPH!" I looked down at the dropping speedometer and it was still above 125. Heh! This car doesn't feel as fast as it is going. You have been warned. :D

Very good! Thank you all for the help!

No oil consumption here.
I broke my car in by driving it off the lot and then driving it 1400 miles over the next three days. Tried to be good for the first 600 miles by varying speed and rpm’s via shifter paddles. After that my 16 yr old son was ready to drive....fast!

The TTV6 seems easy on oil.
Just like a N/A engine. However, my driving style is easy and very low load.

Just did my 30k oil change this past weekend and the oil level hadn't budged from when I filled it.
I drive around 2000mi per month and change every 5k.

before I leave this thread, I'd also like to know if these cars consume oil during high g loads (track days, spirited driving, etc), and also how they just generally hold up on track.

If noticeable oil consumption is normal, the owner's manual will say so. My Audi A4 Avant owner's manual discloses what is considered as "normal" oil consumption.

The Stinger manual says nothing of the sort so my assumption is that noticeable oil consumption is not normal with this engine and I have not noticed any.
