Hello all. I recently moved from U.S. to Canada. My Stinger is failing the federal requirements because the DRLs can be switched off. Kia dealerships say that it is set this way at the factory and they cannot do anything in-house. Is there a module or relay I can replace to keep the DRLs on even when the headlight knob switch is turned to off? Thank you.
Finally OEM quality DRLs made by Stinger owners for Stinger owners! These are bright! Amber switchback Custom designed UV resistant lenses Custom made and sourced in the USA by a Kia Stinger owner 252 LEDs in each pair, top of the line and designed by DiodeDynamics 6 month break and replace /...
The other option - but a lot more work is to take advantage of the crazy US car market and sell it in the US, and buy a Canadian one, you will gain 30% (ish) on the FX, and it's illegal here to sell above MSRP, so you might do quite well!

Great idea - but will this satisfy the "requirement"
Is there a brightness requirement to be met? Like a lumens per square meter at a specified distance?
Is there a physical inspection you need to satisfy? if yes - I would ask the person who is failing you - "what would it take to comply"
i've seen where swapping out the multifunction (combo) switch, the headlight/wiper stalk controls to the canadian version should resolve it as well.... but i'm not able to find the canadian part numbers anywhere to see if there is a difference.

I have not been able to find either. I have researched if there was some type of module or relay that leaves the circuit open even when the stalk controls is turned to the off position. Cambridge Kia told me that the DRLs are set in the factory and they cannot do anything in-house. Funny that both vehicles have the same stalk, but options to turn off in the U.S.

I was heavily considering these until I came across the Devil's Claws LED lights. The wiring is different with 2 connecting wires instead of 3 like the CK71. It won't do turn signals and hazards like the CK71, but my wife and I both like the Devil's Claws look! I have not been able to find a seller that can tell me if they will turn off when I switch the "DRL off" switch on the headlight combo stalk.

The CK71's are much better built FYI, and in the end it will depend on how you wire them if you don't wire them to the DRL switch you should be golden, but email them and ask they are built by a forum member.
Yes sir, the CK71's are a better built. I wish the Devil's claw came the same way instead of using adhesive. I did email K8 Stinger Store to find out if the DRLs would turn off after following their installation. It wires in with the headlight socket like the CK71s. This is their response:
"This product isn’t pre-programmed to work in any type of way, as it doesn’t work that way. There is a single power wire and a single ground wire and it’s up to you or your installer to wire it to your vehicle in any method you’d like."
I will search the forum again to see if anyone else has wired it differently.
UPDATE!!! An auto electrician found out the blue wire (at the headlight socket) sends continuous power even when the headlight knob switch is turned to the "DRL off" position. He connected it directly to the fuse box and it passed inspection. I will install the Devil's claws LEDs in the Spring and post a pic.
We also have a Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2016 75th model. I like the fact that the drls cannot be turned off for some reason? In my Stinger, been over this in another thread, leaving them in the on position is supposed to have them on when it's bright out and then dim and headlights come on when it's darker. But with my damn car, the headlights are on full 80% of the time, it's f*cking annoying having the headlights and taillights on in the middle of a bright afternoon. The dealer said there's no adjustment for it. So I just have to roll with my headlights and taillights on more times then not. I like the look of the car with the drls on but most of the time I'm just looking at the headlights being on. Yes, I know how to use the settings btw.
