Dashcam installation

Hi,

I am looking for some pointers on getting some one to do an install on my baby, located in Sydney Australia.

I will most probably source the camera (BLACKVUE DR900X-1CH) and bracket (Blend Mount) myself, I am not going for the 2CH, because I suspect the install will be too intrusive and won't go well with the dark tinting I have on the rear windows (but I am open to comments from people who have done this).

For the install, I want to get a professional to do it, gone are the days of me busting my back doing these types of installs. Whilst it's easy to find professionals, it's harder to get a professional job, so I would like to hear from someone who has had this type of kit installed on this type of car and are happy with the finished job.

Also I have read about powering of the rear vision mirror wiring, not so sure about this, experiences here would also be welcome!

Hey mate, not sure if you've got this installed yet. I'm not the most handy bloke, but I found this very easy to install into the fuse box.

All I did was run the cable tucked into the headliner where it meets the windscreen, then I ran it over the groove of the A pillar (where it connects to the headliner). I then took the rubber seal off the door and ran the cable down there to hide it, then straight into the fuse box. I used the sunroof for switched power, and the driver seat for constant power. Just wrapped the cable around the fuse itself and plugged it back in.

0 dramas and took me about 20-30 minutes. The only cable you can see is it running from the a pillar into the door seal, but you can barely see it as the cable is black as well as the trimming in the car interior.

Haven't done it yet, so thanks for the advice, the quote for a professional install was ~AUD200, the reasons I have slowed down, first the lockdown, no rush to do anything, second I like the idea of the Blend Mount, but the cost of getting it shipped to Oz is mind bending, plus there is no freight coming in from the US now I hear (HERE). And I am in two minds about powering of the mirror wiring, seems a neat way to do it, but I can see KIA voiding any mirror of window sensor issues.

FWIW, my dash cam uses a mini usb connection for power. I have a cable running up top near the headliner, then down by the door to the floor. Under the floor mat to the back seat into the usb connector for the rear pass. The 12V in the rear power another usb charger with a cable run to the front near the driver side for the gps/cell phone.
