Greetings,

Has anyone here every had their headlight cover become affected by crazing (small “spider web” cracks in the UV clear coat caused by heat). My RH headlight has become to unsightly for my tastes. I have hit this numerous times with a radial buffer and some Megiuars rubbing compound, all to no avail.

I was thinking of going over to Reillys today, and picking up a 3M Ultra Restoration Headlight kit. This means I’m going to be hitting the casing with sandpaper and reapplying the clear coat. I can’t think of other option, apart from replacement- and these headlight cost around 1k a piece (unless Kia could simply sell me a new cover)! Has anyone has this problem?

Regards.

not 'crazing' per se. I haven't read of a headlight lens going 'spidery'. I do know that there are professional headlight restoration services, I see them advertised. I'd talk to them first before ever replacing one of these. a thousand bucks? haven't priced one in a while. back in '18 they were over $2,000. neither price is acceptable. there is no option for replacing the lens/cover it's a single unit.

Yep, mine are crazing too. 2018 gt2awd, not garaged. I may end up wetsanding and applying xpel precut headlight film.

Thanks. That pricing is insane. I bought a 3M headlight restoration kit. I’ll see what that does.

That sucks, man. I have an ‘18, too. That means its only a matter of time until later model owner’s experience this crap too. It really pisses me off! I’ll let you know what the 3M headlight kit does when I finally apply it. Should be soon, I’m just waiting for a break from work and family. Keep me posted if you wetsand before I get to mine. I’d like to know how it comes out. Good luck.

Any update on this?

I have a 2018 gtrwd. Same issue. I gotta good restoration kit. It worked great on the outside. But there's the same issue on the inside where the restoration kit isn't going to be able to help you. Anyone have any solutions vs buying new ones?
