I've read about the fuse pulling scenerio to convert an AWD -> RWD but i was wondering if anyone has wired up a toggle switch into the cabin to toggle the fuse being open/closed? I was thinking a fuse socket connector with some wiring that includes an inline fuse with the same amperage as the stock one should do the trick.

But also, has anyone had any experience removing the fuse while the car is running or driving and has that caused any problems?

Another thing I was curious about is since the GTS has the factory option of going into "drift mode" has there been anything about potentially a plug 'n play solution using OEM GTS parts?

I think I read that pulling it with car running with throw off some codes. The car has to be off and I think the ECU has to be sleeping for it to come out without codes. I think the GT-S version is a different OEM tune that will put 100% of power to rears under the circumstances they have. Full traction control and ESC off.

Hmm, I wonder if flashing the ECU with the GTS would help mitigate that (assuming you'd install whatever switch comes with the GTS to change drive modes as well)

Correct me if I am wrong but I think another thing to consider is that AWD cars don't have a LSD in the rear; only the RWD cars have an LSD.

So converting AWD to RWD without an LSD wouldn't be a good thing.

You are correct, the AWD does not come with an LSD.

The GTS AWD does.
This is also correct, but not really the point of the thread. Im just trying to figure out a better solution to pulling a fuse in the fuse box every time before I consider even going RWD. It could be great on AWD applications especially if you plan track days. Swap the GTS LSD and ECU flash and you have yourself a discounted GTS, if it works that way at least. Then again depending on price points it might be just a better idea to have purchased the GTS instead

I have no experience in electrical systems and personally wouldn't dare try fabricating a solution myself - but it seems like designing a toggle switch would be significantly easier not to mention economical.

I guess its a good thing I'm an electrician professionally lol. If I get some more feedback on whether this can be done I'll be sure to write up a good DIY with pictures and/or sell some pre-made wiring contraptions that can be just bolted on.

Suggestion. It you want a toggle solution for the AWD fuse, there is a switch kit that is made for the C6 Corvette to turn on and off the exhaust bypass. It is a switch that is wired to a fuse tap. I would imagine this or something like it would work for enabling or disabling the AWD using a switch. You’d have to experiment with it but it should work.

Here is a link to the part: C6 Dual Mode Exhaust Controller | Modified Vettes

I did a switch and a short video on the RWD switch. You can toggle on and off and no CEL as the car does the same at 60 mph anyways to shut off the AWD at speed.

Jeeze $50 for a $15 20 minute job

Are you able to enable/disable the AWD while the car is on or driving?

Mine was 8$ for the switch and $5 for the inline fuse. Took maybe an hour but half that was routing wires through the car. The fuse connectors aren't the best being homemade but working so far.

Yes. I flip it to do a burn out and then flip it back.

Does your car have the LSD (Limited Slip Differential)? If not, doesn't just one wheel spin?
Open diffs will spin both tires if you are going straight, The ass end does kick out a bit. Look up Tork Motorsports Stinger Burnout. His is 2018 GT RWD open diff and you can see the dual black marks.

Huh I was actually curious about that to so i went and checked out the video. Here's Torks explanation to doing a burnout with open diff
