Looking at local inventory in Ohio and surrounding states I see a lot of 2018 Red GT's remaining in inventory. I prefer a black or ceramic silver but looks like maybe better deals will be had on red. Did they over produce this color? Are there any issues with the red paint? Is red a cop magnet or too flashy? I think the red looks stunning and trying to understand why they are so many left.

It's a great color. That probably why they ordered so many.

Same in Florida, red and black seen to be the most popular. About 30 blue for sale within 500 miles of me, 60+ red

No bad colors to be had. Probably was the launch color and are in abundance. When I got my Ceramic Silver, there were 14 total GT2's from Yonkers, NY down 95 to a town south of D.C. Compared to close to 100 red GT2. Yeah, that Caught me off guard too!

Given most ,if not all, Promo materials show the red car I'm thinking this was their "signature color " and they felt it would be the go to for early adopters .............its a great color ..........

It is indeed a pretty color. I don't want it, though.

.. and, yes, they did over-estimate demand for it.

I got red and love it. Tinted the windows 5% this weekend and have m&s spoiler, diffuser and stinger script all in gloss black coming next week.

Around here there are mostly red gt2's left around here..a few blues, ceramic is nowhere to be found. If this buyback doesn't happen soon, I might end up having to settle for red unless they come out with a decent deal on th 2019 GT1's, then it will be ceramic.

Out of the 16 I inspected a couple of months ago, six were red and five were black. That seems pretty typical with other places "reporting in".

I was tempted by the ghost grey but the red was the colour that kept drawing me back. The problem is I already own another Kia in Racing Red.

The launch color is great and I figured there would be a lot of people getting that color, which is why the produced so many of them. It's surprising that it didn't happen that way.

Interesting comments about the launch colour. Given that I bought one, I obviously like the red and I expect it to remain in production quite awhile. If the yellow had been available here, I might have made a different call....

Some other manufacturers, however, seem to like to issue a limited production "launch colour" that you see on press vehicles and for the first year only. That was the case with my 2015 Sonata that I bought in orange. It was discontinued after that first model year and I know that only one other was sold from our local dealership in that colour (probably didn't help sales that you could only get the orange if you bought the fully loaded trim level). Personally, I've always liked having a relatively rare car that's easy to pick out.

Similar was BMW's launch of the M4 coupe. All the early display cars seemed to show up in that odd greenish-goldish-mustard colour that I haven't seen since. I actually liked it, but I'm assuming that it didn't suit many people's tastes. Still a real eye catcher, which I presume is what you want with a new model launch.

Thanks to everyone for their input. So here in Columbus we have this remaining in 2018 GT2 - 13 Red , 5 Blue, and 2 Snow Pearl White.

If I want a 2018 Red GT I will have to have the following conversations:

  • Myself - 2018 Red GT2 would be a value choice compromise decision vs a 2019 Ceramic Silver GT2 - I am stubborn.
  • Wife - convince her I am sacrificing myself and I need this car - she is more stubborn:)
  • Dealer - Too actually see if they are willing to go around $38k on the 2018. They are even more stubborn.
3 tough conversations with 3 difficult people. Wish me luck!
