Hey all,

Recently purchased a stinger and I have already started getting dings in the brushed silver plastic just forward of the center console, and I've deduced it is from my seat belt (over-ambitiously pulling it down towards the latch and it'll knock against this plastic). Anyone else had troubles with this? I know I'm not the only one because when I looked at a used stinger a couple months ago I saw the same type of damage and at the time I wondered where it came from. If anyone has experienced this or just has any general advice for how to repair the little knicks I'm all ears. They are no more than .001" deep.
Obviously I'll take care when latching my seatbelt from here on out but I'm hoping to get rid of the existing damage if possible!

Thanks!

It isn't plastic. If it were it would probably be harder to ding it up. The dings are common and I've never seen a post about someone repairing them.

a solution to improve the appearance of the damaged area is to have the brushed aluminum wrapped in vinyl , its more durable and comes in several metalic finishes ...............a few members have wrapped their consoles due to damage . you can google " wrapping dash trim" for reference

Nice, thanks! So the material is a brushed aluminum then? I saw another reply suggesting it is no plastic like I had assumed

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I've beat up my aluminum trim 3 times, 3 little dents. I haven't done it since I learned how to put my seatbelt on like a human, not a savage.

I've thought about fixing it, but there are only 2 options. As westcoastGT noted, it can be vinyl wrapped, or you could replace it (ideally with the Korean one with the nice flap for the cupholders).

Interesting...what is this "nice" replacement that you mention?

Based on how the damage looks on the centre console, I would strongly believe it's aluminium. Not the same can be said about the trim on the dashboard, which is obviously painted plastic and (if hit) gets very nasty paint chips which make it look extra cheap :(

Interesting...I’m having trouble visualizing where on the dash is the plastic you’re referencing. I’ll have to look more closely when I return home later this week. Thanks for the caution though

Here are 2 examples. The ones on the console were made by brutal hits with the metal end of the seatbelt. Still, it looks like the aluminium just got bent and doesn't look so bad.
The dash "aluminium" line, on the other hand, looks like the paint simply came off. IMG_6591.webpIMG_6595.webp
