Hello. I am looking at buying a new Stinger. I was originaly went to look at the K5. (thought it is good looking car for the money) My wife saw the Stinger. We originally was not going to spend that much on a new car but, being almost 50 I fugre how many more new cars am I going to buy? We are looking to move to NC in the future so an AWD is a must in my opinion.

Anyways, we are looking to buy a GT2 Panther Metal Red Nappa Leather AWD fully loaded. None available around this area. They did find one about 150 miles away, but it does not have the puddle lights (I think those are good looking) or door sill and bumper appliques. So, first question. Can those be added after the fact? I am a mechanic for Ford and if Stinger is built the same the Puddle lights would be a pricey thing to add after the fact if possible at all. Appliques I am pretty sure are just order and stick on.

With the car needing to be Dealer traded I am guessing the short distance they will drive it to the local dealer. I am fine with that. Should I expect them to charge me for that? They said a 1k refundable deposit. Fine with that if it is truly refundable?

What Should I really expect to see for pricing? Dealer pack at my dealer is 1k non negotiable. I am guessing the same for KIA. But that is also usually dealer set. What should I expect to see for fees over the cars price? Tax, tag title is all going to be the same everywhere but, are there other fees I am not being told about that are negotiable? We will probably put about half down, finance the other and pay off in 6 months to a year (just for credit purposes). I am not really concerned about the interest rate or term since I don't plan to pay until term is up. But finance charges etc are a concern. I know one of the dealers wanted me to buy a 3k "Protection" package. Being a mechanic I called them out on that as for example, the AC refresh service was $170 and all it is is a 10$ can of spray shot into the fresh air intake for the cabin. They then asked if I could pay the $500 cost for it as it was already on the car. LOL, I called him out on that and said "how can it be? You don't even have the one I want at the dealer!" Needless to say, we will not buy from them as wifey does not like a liar!

Lastly, extended warranty. Should I or not? Again, being a mechanic I see a lot of cars come in with extended warranty coverage. Sometimes I think they were smart to get it, sometimes not so much.

Don't put a deposit down on anything.

The Kia factory warranty is fantastic... I personally didn't buy an extended warranty...

Focus on a final price out the door... If they're serious about this sale (and to Kia a GT2 is a high-level sale) they will stomach the cost of transportation...

What zip codes are being compared? That will play a role in the pricing.

Good luck and keep us posted! :D

Howdy. If "my" car was a mere shmeer 150 miles away, I'd go and drive it home.

No additional "extended" warranty.

No addons, period.

Contact that other dealer directly and dump these guys. Hah.

Cast a wider net lots of dealers are willing to work with you, and if the one you want is only 150 miles away why not go buy it from that dealer?
KIA, (and a lot of Japanese cars) are not option-able like some other brands, you get option A, B, or C... and that's it, so yes adding lights etc can get very expensive (but since you likely are going to paying for the install not as bad)

Look at the lease buyout trick to save some $$, or if the finance rates are 0% keep your money, and take the free loan. Put your cash to work

That’s what I did when I got mine, Merlin (it is I, Lord Astyra <changed my name>). I drove from the Greater Chicago area to Green Bay Wisconsin a little over a year ago!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
As said, if its less than 500 miles go get it! I drove 280 miles 1 way for mine and the ride was glorious.
A good dealer will have normal kia incentives, I think mine was $4000 off the top last month, and another $1500 from the dealer.
You can have the dealer draw up a sales agreement that shows every fee broken down before even leaving your house.
I did not and would not extend the warranty on the Kia because its a 10 year power train. I also opted out of everything else as well. The prepaid maintenance package is nice, I do it with mercedes but didn't look into it with kia.

Why is AWD a "must" in NC?? Maybe it will be helpful twice a year? Save the money and get a better driving car with RWD...

You may need to make the trek.....Inventories are drying up for a reason....MY'22's on the way and what is on dealer lots is going to be pretty much it even if that means a 300 mile trip to get one. Dealer where I purchased mine told me a couple months ago they would not be ordering anymore.

I don't need awd and never even considered the rwd, nothing wrong with wanting the stability and predictability of awd

Well the spot we are looking at in NC is 4400 ft and not the greatest roads. With a driveway as long as the place we have been going 4wd would be a must. first year we took the wifes jeep and was sideway up the mountain even in 4wd. this year we rented and the ice was so thick sun morning on the long driveway on the side of a cliff I wasnt even trying to go out for milk till the roads thawed.
Maybe its just me and my 4wd obsession. LOL

I live in NC and I enjoy the AWD. I don't have any issues with grip. Always see posts about, how do I increase grip, my wheels are spinning after adding JB4 and other mods. No issue here with running map 4 and grip. I do wish sometimes I had a RWD with an LSD but then I would cry at how many more tires I would burn through.

Yeah I already have a jeep that needs $1600 in tires everytime they wear out! I don't need to have to buy 8 tires! ROFL

I think AWD is fantastic... but I personally went with RWD because it was significantly cheaper overall (lower OTD price, better MPG, fewer parts that are strained, etc) and figured I will just use all-season tires or winter tires during the colder months. :D

Good luck though! :D

If the dealer you're trying to buy it from now is throwing you a bunch of BS already, thats not a great sign. I'd call over to the dealership its currently at and try to purchase it from them. 150 miles is a short drive just to get at fair deal.

So to answer your questions:
Puddle lights aren't terribly expensive. K8 stinger store is pretty great. He stocks most of the addon stuff you'll need for the Stinger and its all good quality stuff. There are cheaper parts out there but the fit and finish may not be "Stinger specific".

Deposits are refundable. If they refuse, its theft and get the police involved. Make sure you get a receipt and that the receipt states "Refundable deposit for..." Simply put, its the dealership making sure you're serious before the buy the car off the other dealer and bring it in. They want to make sure you're serious.

For pricing, dealer packs may vary. Kia dealerships sometimes have the dealer fees, some don't. It may be negotiable.
If you're planning on paying it off rapidly, i'd lease it to take advantage of the staggeringly large rebates (probably $5,000 plus) then pay it off after that. Dealer protection packages are horseshit. If they say its already on there, tell them you want a different car. You aren't under any obligation to pay for any options that arent on the window sticker. If they add aftermarket wheels, body kit and such, you can always request they be removed or get a different car. I worked for a Kia dealer a long time back where we'd do aftermarket wheels on Optimas to get them looking sharp but, if someone wanted that exact car we'd roll it into the shop and put the stocks back on if they didn't want the upgrades.

Extended warranty can be a good thing. Bear in mind cost: I'm an Auto Broker and without markup, a Kia Stinger GT-GT2 warranty for 10 years/100k miles costs me $1,800. If they're saying its going to cost above that, they're making money on you. Heres where you're in a good spot as a mechanic: If you get the extended warranty, make sure its valid AT ANY ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC. This should include your Ford store where you work. Should there be failure of the vehicle and its parts, the contract will stipulate that as long as your shop is certified, you can do your own warranty work at your Ford store provided that the part is covered by the additional warranty and not the Kia warranty.
Summarized: If its not a Kia covered part, the warranty pays YOU AND YOUR SERVICE TEAM to do your own work. Cool stuff right?

Holler at me if you have questions: 970-889-9835 call or text, whatevers easier for you.

Well, I got a message the dealer that was supposed to have the car sold it already. So now the nearest one is an 8hr drive. And, they are asking me to put a "Hold Check" on it. I am going to quickly get pissed off at salesman bullshit and just drive to the location that has it plop some cash on the counter and tell them this amount of cash is my out the door price take it or I will go buy an Audi or BMW. I don't have patience for salesman crap. My GM at the last dealer i worked for asked me to be a salesman and i told him no because I wasnt a lying douche like his cronies were. I know I can pay cash and if they dont want to do it my way Ill just go somewhere else. They priced it at 49580 and 54037 out the door. I was fine with that but if they continue to aggrivate me I will maybe just buy a used one with a couple thousand miles on it and save almost 20k. I don't think it is the salesman directly but the Sales manager being the pita. Its my feeling it they really want the sale they will get the car here. I would even be willing to put a 1k "REFUNDABLE" deposit down. But I am not writing a check for a car they dont have when they didn't get the last one they said they would.

If you need to look further out, I look at getting a broker... then you can just show up, sign, and drive home!

Since inventory is quite "rare" at this time (same in my area. Dealer where I purchased mine admitted they won't bring in any more Stingers until new model year), why not just wait another month or so and the MY '22's will start showing up at dealers close to you. They don't want to miss out on those "new model year" sales.......

I am assuming the car you are looking at is at Kia of New Bern, KNAE55LC2M6094750, MSRP $54,900.
I did some research and if a new GT2 AWD in Panthera Metal with red interior and puddle lights is a must then I think that this may be the only one with that combination still available in the US according to Car Gurus.

The only other GT2 AWD vehicles I found that were close w/red interior and puddle lights in black or silver were:
KNAE55LC3M6096104 Aurora Black $54,860, Dulles Kia, Leesburg, VA
KNAE55LC0M6090356 Aurora Black $54,305 King Kia Gaithersburg, MD
KNAE55LC0M6097372 Ceramic Silver, $55,170, Jim Shorkey Kia, IRWIN, PA
KNAE55LC4M6097276 Ceramic Silver $54,785, Matt Taylor Kia LANCASTER, OH
KNAE55LC1M6096103 Aurora Black $54,730, Mastria Kia, RAYNHAM, MA
KNAE55LC7M6097370, Ceramic Silver, $55,285 Herb Chambers Kia of Burlington, BURLINGTON, MA
KNAE55LC7M6097272, Ceramic Silver, $54,800, Berwyn Kia, BERWYN, IL
KNAE55LC1L6076609, (2020 Model) Aurora Black, $54,580, Tom Kadlec Kia, ROCHESTER, MN

If Panthera Metal is a must then there are black interior ones with puddle lights at:
KNAE55LCXM6097184 Panthera Metal, BLACK INTERIOR, $54,675 Elhart Kia, HOLLAND, MI
KNAE55LC8M6097183, Panthera Metal, BLACK INTERIOR, $54,670, McGrath Kia, HIAWATHA, IA
KNAE55LCXM6094754 Panthera Metal, BLACK INTERIOR, $54,800, Fairfield Kia, KEENE, NH

...I was a little bored.

How are you finding those. the one that was close to here said it had black interior but the window sticker said red as an installed package?
