How do you remove the brake fluid reservoir filter?? I'd like to test my brake fluid to see if a brake fluid flush is necessary. Thanks

I think there is a slot in it, you have to turn it until it lines up and then it lifts out.

Tried for several minutes. No grooves or slots to allow the filter to be removed. Thanks for the suggestion Kodiack.

It's not just a matter of pulling straight up? Such was the case in my previous cars.

I'm pretty sure they're made to be fitted once and never removed. I had to forcibly remove mine with a hook tool, breaking the 2 rows of one-way locking tabs on either side of the filter. Make sure you hook the plastic and don't puncture the mesh if you want to reuse it, AND DON'T DROP THE BLOODY THING INTO THE ENGINE BAY. Stuff some newspaper around the res just in case. Took me longer to fish it back out with a vacuum than the rest of the job. :cautious:

Kinda like this:

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Thanks Elchanclo! I will order a new filter prior to removing it, just incase it gets too trashed or I drop it. Cheers

Thanks for the heads up! Wow. Why would they have it lock in place like that. Both the g37 and accord had filters, but they lifted right up without any challenges.

During a brake flush, I will typically suck out from the bottom using a syringe with a hose attached to get as much debris out as possible so as not to push it through the system.

Is there a part number for this filter piece? I see the whole reservoir available but not the filter.

Edit: plot thickens!

I can't find a part# or even a diagram that shows that filter/mesh strainer for the brake fluid. :coffee:

Don't remember if I tried rotating it before forcing it out, but I know they changed the shape of the reservoir at some point, so rotating may work on one version and not the other. Would like to hear from others that managed to remove it.
