Hello,

I was wondering if anyone else was driving their car with the BMS downshift blocker installed on the throttle? I have it installed and I'm enjoying it since I'm usually in manual mode. Surprisingly it's help my LC launch greatly. Just wanted to here other options from fellow Stinger owners.

First I’ve heard of this little beauty. Hopefully more users comment.

Agreed, the blocker needs more visibility. I noticed that some owners like the kickdown while some aren't very fond of it. It's an pretty cheap addition to take back some control from the car lol.

Can't you just unplug the kick down switch?
Honestly, I'm not sure. Idk if the lack of switch would throw a code since kickdown wouldn't be detected by the ECU and/or TCU if unplugged.

Mine arrives today. Should Help with dealing with the kickdown on launches

Oh, you had the blocker installed on the throttle at one time?
yep.

Though didn't notice a difference on my launches (0-60) But since I don't do longer runs (1/4, roll racing etc) I just took it out. But I had it on briefly. Will give it a shot after.

How does the kickdown switch engage with a TCU tune? Is your the TCU tune smooth or more aggressive?

Mine was aggressive, pressure 3. (now I'm pressure 2, just recently)

It engages normally with the tcu tune.

IIRC, since you're rwd. bms mentioned launching in 2nd gear with the kickdown blocker is beneficial.

True, I have yet to do a 2nd gear launch. I'll try that one day.

I have the kick down blocker and love it. It takes care of one of the things that I didn't like about that car. It still kicks down to a lower gear when in drive but it doesn't go to the extreme and immediately shift to the lowest possible gear like it does without the blocker. It's much better imo. Also, when in manual mode on my GT2, it will stay in whatever gear you have selected instead of kicking down.

I also have a tcu tune and didn't notice any difference when launching. I've never tried launching in 2nd though. Is that a thing for AWD or just RWD?

It works fine for both. Also, the kickdown blocker only helps when launching in 2nd gear because it makes the car not shift down into first, as well as it stops the car from wanting to shift down into a lower gear mid way through a run at higher speeds

Whenever I used the LC before installing the blocker, it felt like the trans hesitated for almost a half a second then launched. After the blocker, I haven't felt the sensation again.

Thats the kickdown switch getting triggered and the ECU thinking before launch, even if still in first gear

This makes sense. Still crazy though, one would think the switch wouldn't activate in 1st gear.

Oh forgot to ask you, StingerbyAdoom. Have you had any issues or worries with water entering the hood vents on your CF hood?

One would think so, but it remains active as long as you keep it pressed, even out of first gear, which is why the car can randomly shift back down a gear after you tell it to shift up at times.

as for the hood vents, sometimes if the car is sitting in rain for a while, a smidge can get in, however not nearly enough to be worrying, and the air going over the car when its moving stops water from getting in when driving.

This alone should be enough reason to install one. Definitely put it on the list for me.
