Hello all I am curious to get feedback from fellow mates that have bought and installed the BMS CPI kit. Feedback, thoughts, positive, negatives, performance gains etc. any feedback would be appreciated on your thoughts on it. Pictures would be awesome.

I run it, works great. I run Map 1-3 and also 100% E85 (80-82% ethanol content). Some performance gains due to some higher ignition. Negativs with stock ECU and full E85 is cold start that is to lean. I have to purge now with outside temp of about 5 degrees C (41 F). Can probably be helped with less E85/more petrol blend or with prime crank start map that is adjusted in ECU No start problem up to 50% of E85.

So you don’t have an ecu tune correct? And on run up to 50 percent. Ethanol mix with no issues? What map you run when you have the e50? Also I heard of some people having issues when running over E30 on stock tune have you ever had any issues like that ? Last comment do you have a GTR? What made you buy this rice cooker?

Yes, I can run Map 1 with no issues and stock, ECU. Have tunned up to 3, sometimes, fp drops but when it not some days also Map 3 works. 50% blend should be fine up to Map 3.

We have several cars, GTR only at summer, Stinger all year as daily driver and when going far a Volvo and a Saab. More comfortable.

Now waiting for my retuden LAP3 ECU and The take it from there.

Ok thanks for the feedback. Have you ran the 1/4 mile do you what you time is with your current mods?

Not now, just before more stock, 12,24 and later with more tune at 11,77 wo launch.

How are you running full E85 on CPI alone on the stinger? I can only run around E45-50.

Just curious when you ran 11.77 what mods did you have? Map did you run on JB4?

Yes, JB4, like Map 3 (faster than 5).
E30 blend
DP's with 200 cells
Right thruu exhaust
Wagner IC and intake pipe
Lozic TCU

Depending on boost, it has now to taper with rpm. Of course it will work better with tuned ECU that has extended trim maps and also a fuel pressure map that is extended. We will see how it will be when I got my LAP3 ECU back.

How did the tcu tune just with the JB4 work? Did you notice a big difference after the tcu tune? No issues running primaries? I heard if a lot overboost issues.

TCU works great, a bit harder shifts when on load and also shifting earlier in sport at 5900 rpm. In Eco and normal shifts is at 6400. My TCU is programed to always shift up, even in manual so you never went in to rpm limit.
I havnt had any issues With primary. If there is its easy to tune away the over boost With JB4. Primarys gives a better breed at higher revs and maybe 20-30 hp on a tuned engine.

This is a fantastic write up that Terry did on another forum. I highly recommend reading it

I read that write and it was very informative, I want to hear real life experiences from people that have the system now and their thoughts. I agree thou great info that Terry provides.

I second this. Answered a lot of questions for me as I had concerns about wmi and general curiosity about running higher ethanol amounts.

I have a cpi kit installed on my car. It's an easy install, the fuel pump on my car was a but annoying to deal with but that was the only difficult/stressful part of the install.

Your intercooler/charge pipe bung will also play a part in how annoying/difficult/easy it is to install. Also plays a part in the performance from what I understand. I have an IMR intercooler, the bung is higher on the charge pipe which means that my bumper doesn't need to come off to install. It also means that I don't have as long to atomize the ethanol and get more gains. How much is being left on the table, who knows?

One thing I don't like is that it's reliant on the JB4 to operate. I have an ecu tune. I don't like the idea of 2 items trying ro tell the car what to do. Too much potential for errors or issues and people have run into that. I'm not sure if that's been the case with cpi mod. I have not had it happen with cpi. But I did experience earlier this year my ecu and jb4 not playing well together.

E85 burns cleaner than pump gas. Our cars a GDI engines which deal with carbon build up. Someone with more knowledge than me can weigh in on if we would benefit from it and have less carbon build up by running more E. I'm sure it probably has to due with where fuel is sprayed etc and o just don't know the answer. So at best, maybe there's added bonus.

Performance. Your car will pull and pull and pull on top end. Another member actually ran wmi and then ran cpi on his car. Tested it out and saw zero difference in terms of performance.

If you go cpi, your costs is lower than wmi. But depending on where you live, it could be inconvenient. There are 2 E85 pumps within a 50 mile radius of where I live. Closest one is minimum 20/25 min drive from my house. I still chose CPI knowing this. Not sure where you live but that's something you'll need to be keenly aware of. It also burns faster than pump gas which means you'll run our faster. And I think it burns leaner? Tune is even more important when running more ethanol.

I didn't want wmi because my kid is in the car and I don't feel like worrying about hoses, leaks, etc. There are tons of members that don't have those issues. I know I just don't feel like worrying. With cpi, it's set it and mostly forget it. Fuel pump crashes if cpi is not flowing. System can be buggy if you're not constantly up to date on most recent firmware. The hardware from Burger is quality, I'm happy with the system. Best person to get help you with it if you decide to go that route is @Avant. The guy is a well of information and super helpful.

You have to slowly work your way up to higher ethanol amounts. Don't just go full blast. There will also be an adjustment period the ecu goes through because your ethanol amount can very.

For me, cpi works and I would choose it again.

Great information this exactly the kind info and experiences I am looking to read about. I have children as well and hence the reason why I am leaning towards CPI, lucky for me we have corn everywhere here I live in Illinois so all the gas stations have E85.
