Automatic Hatch Opening: Don't know if this is an "interior" or "exterior" Issue

I don't know if this is an "interior", "exterior" or "key fob" issue but my automatic hatch open feature (vehicle locked) is not working. Everything else on the remote works just fine.

Are you referring to pushing the button located on the trunk?

Smart liftgate. Car is locked, standing at the rear, key in pocket, nothing.

All the other functions work just fine. It's just the smart liftgate function that doesn't work.

I suppose I could replace the battery anyway; maybe there's not enough juice for it to work?

that's what I would do, if it has never been changed or not for a few years. cheap, peace of mind troubleshoot.

The car has to be locked for that to work, and there is a setting in the car to turn it on or off as well.
