The poll has been up for an hour. Based on 40 votes, guess who’s leading...

Fashion-forward four-door cars with liftbacks are offered by a number of automakers including Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Volkswagen.

You can add BMW and even Kia to that list, with the 4 Series Gran Coupe and all-new Stinger, respectively. But which of these cars is a better option? That’s the question of today’s poll!

The BMW is offered in a variety of flavors — it’s available with all-wheel drive, an efficient four-cylinder engine, and even a manual gearbox. But for this comparison, we’re focusing on the top-shelf 440i model, which is rear-drive.

Power is provided by a liquid-smooth 3.0-liter inline-six that’s rated at 320 horses. Maximum torque clocks in at 330 pound-feet. For better or worse, it’s only paired with a responsive eight-speed automatic gearbox.

This drivetrain combination can propel the 4 Series Gran Coupe to 60 miles an hour in as little as 4.8 seconds. As for fuel economy, you can expect 21 miles per gallon in urban driving and 32 on highway jaunts. Combined, it should return a respectable 25 mpg.

Focusing on Kia next, the brand’s gorgeous new Stinger certainly looks the part, with a beautiful body and aggressive cues, but does it have the substance to back that up?

GT models certainly do. They’re motivated by a 3.3-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 that delivers 365 horses and 376 pound-feet of twist. An eight-speed automatic is standard, though you do have a choice of either rear- or all-wheel drive. For more economy-minded motorists, a 2.0-liter turbo-four serves base duty, delivering a more-than-respectable stable of 255 horses.

On the efficiency front, it doesn’t appear that the U.S. EPA has released any figures for the Stinger yet.

The Stinger GT starts around $40,000, about $10K less than the base 440i we’ve been talking about in this comparison.

Which of these stylish four-doors do you prefer? Compare them here and make sure to vote down below!

Here's a BMW-biased blog post about the article. I think the author hasn't read the specs and (preliminary) pricing very closely, given his cost comparison commentary in the last paragraph.

Yeah, no kidding.

"However, start adding options and it can quickly get well within striking distance of the Bimmer’s price, even matching it."

You mean a fully loaded Stinger GT2 with ventilated Nappa leather seats, nav, HUD, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, 15 speaker HK, etc etc - is almost the same price as a base 440i GC with none of those options and vinyl seats? No way!

that plus this

"...the all-wheel drive KIA Stinger gets from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds while the rear-drive BMW 440i does the deed in 4.4 seconds. Maybe Bavarian horses are stronger than Korean ones."

I guess anyone can bias blog nowadays. Sad(Presidential Tone)

I notice there are no comments posted on that "stellar piece of journalism" . . . I can't log in to set them right, but maybe some of you?

At least he used the 4.6 second 0-60 time and not one of the other slower times posted around the net to further prove his point. I haven't even read it and don't want/need the aggravation right now. :p

BMW owners would have flooded that poll...

Beemer owners have not time for polls. They are currently busy with the recalls, and looking for other parking places than their garages ...I know, I know, that's mean and not called for, but you know ...:)
couldn't help myself. Sorry. Really. I am.

Unless it was linked in their forum, I don't see why they would.
Yeah, I'm just surprised that it slipped by without somebody saying "Don't let the Stinger beat our 4-Series!"... :p

How likely do you think it is that some of the votes for the Stinger came from Beemer owners who just found out about the recall, haha?
