• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Australian CK Stinger Safety Recall

If you get the recall letter just go in to the dealership tow bar or not and they should clear it. I didn’t realise there was another tow bar other than the Kia one but it doesn’t surprise me someone has developed it. Doesn’t affect me I don’t tow anything.
Kia one is just a Hayman Reece I'm pretty sure. I wont get it fitted at the dealer so I wont get a notice, qualified motor mechanic in a past life, DYI all the way ;)

Paul.

It’s not a big deal according to kia service guy, no towbar no worries and frankly for me I wouldn’t even contemplate putting a towbar on a stinger.

Got a KTM 450EXC that I need to get into the Victorian high country for a ride from time to time to clear my head and remind me I'm alive, the bike and I have a love hate relationship, I love it and it tries to kill me. :D but again only very light towing and the towbar I'm getting is totally stealth if you remove the tongue and ball assembly.

Second notice. I didn't even receive a first but dealer ticked it off automatically at 3k service. Said it was just a formality.

Have any of you had, or seen, the power outlet mounted externally on a Stinger. Mine has the very neat flat cable with power outlet on the end. I don't want it hanging out of the boot, and flapping about, when I'm towing.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Firstly, Welcome @Hampster to our stingerforum, can you please let us know which state your from, and which colour Stinger you own and for how long? In regards to your question, it seems your Stinger has a towbar fitted to it, flat cable with power outlet, majority of Stingers don't have a towbar, but there maybe some owners here who can advise you, also use the " FIND " at the top of the webpage, type in towbar, maybe it will find a thread already started you can read.

G'Day. Thanks for the welcome message.
I took delivery of my Neon Orange Kia Stinger GT one week before Christmas.
I live in the ACT.
I bought the Stinger through Private Fleet, from a Sydney dealer.
I ordered the Stinger with the Sports exhaust system, and a Kia towbar.
I've been riding motorcycle Trials since the mid seventies and have towed a trailer to all States bar WA and NT.
I've owned a number of Falcons, all fitted with towbars, the last two were XR6s. If I could have a legally fitted towbar on an Australian Mustang, I would have been driving one for the past two years.
When I fitted the towball into the gooseneck on the Stinger (after 2000K) it was apparent that the rattle stopping bolt and locknut had not been put in place when the towbar was fitted. My local Kia Dealer's workshop foreman was exceptionally helpful in getting the bolt and locknut fitted, and it definitely took two of us to do it.
Once I joined this forum I was able to see photos and read other threads re Stinger towbars and power plugs.
I will be getting the power plug fitted to the rear of the Kia in 'the conventional' manner.

I just bought a GT Stinger with the factory Tow Bar. And yes, it has that flat cable that you place over the bumper and then close the tailgate down on it. Not happy with the way that is done. I have had a quick look under the car to locate a hole and grommet to run the cable through, but haven't been able to find one. What's everyone else doing???? Interested on your thoughts.
