I noticed some manufacturers have upgraded their product offerings this year and I wanted to get the Michelin PS A/S 4 however, they don't have the front size just yet. The upgraded BFG tires looks better in the wet and dry and be a good tire for the Stinger. For those that went with the first gen of this tire, how did it perform for you as far as comfort and noise level compared to the Summer PS 4 that the Stinger came with?

Different vehicle but we went with the first gen bfg comp2 as on our 2 e39's . at the time they were one of the top uhpas tires not in the premium range.. they are noisier than the michelins and had the best overall wet grip in it's class.. it's class being mid range uhpas, not premium like the michelins. I was looking at the upgraded ones as well and it seems to test about the same as the premium offerings for the stinger as i've been very happy with them on our bimmers. They aren't loud by any means but are louder for sure if that makes sense :). Unless the upgraded ones have a significantly altered compound that can affect noise, they definitely produce more of a low growl/hum than it's competitors.

They do have a slightly stiffer sidewall than say michelin/hankook/continentals (the different tires we have had on them) and felt slightly firmer than those but not crazy harsh.

However, i was actually quite impressed with their light snow performance than i was expecting as I was able to make it up and down some snowy hills in our neighborhood a few years ago that awd vehicles were struggling.. (albeit those drivers did not know what they were doing)

I know a member that lived in my area got them and I went for a drive in his car and they seemed similar to the Michelins, maybe slightly quieter but we didn't go on the highway to test at higher speeds. They seemed to have improved them which is why I am considering them now. I have the General G-MAX AS05 on my opima and they ae smooth and comfortable but have a bit of thread noise and I wanted to have tires that will last a bit longer. I would have thought these would have a slightly less firmer ride than the Michelins. Although on TR they seem to be similar to the new Michelin PS Sport AS4, would have gone with those if they had them in our size (none for fronts at present).

Yea TR's testing shows pretty massive improvements especially in wet performance vs the first models . Pretty much right on par with goodyear exhilarates and pilot sport as. My next tires are between the exhilarates and the new comp 2 as.

I ordered a set, should have them installed next week, will give me review on them once I have spent some time with them.

BFG makes great tire, being par of the top tire company Michelin they have access to the know how, compound etc. Do not expect them to perform as well as Michelin of the same category because the Michelin brand is reserved for the best in the segment but they still represent solid bang for the bucks being cheaper vs Michelin branded tires.

I have the BFG tires on my Mustang, came with the pirelli p zero. They lasted about 8.000 miles and were not that great to begin with. The BFG Comp II AS are a much better tire. I have about 12,000 miles on them and they look as new. Don't even know if they offer the BFGs in our size, if they did I would seriously consider them for the Stinger.....2021 GT1 by the way...Two weeks now ...hahahaha

They do and they updated the compound this summer and now their wet and dry grip levels are very very close to the michelin sport 4 all seasons.

Congrats on the car! Yes, they do have sizes for our car, that is what I ordered. I should have them later and hope to install sometime this week.

Got the tires installed, drove it for a little bit and it feels a bit softer than the Michelins, but still firm but not as hard on road imperfections. The initial impressions are good so far, noise on concrete surfaces seems a bit higher which is much like TR mentions. I think I noticed it more as I was driving with the radio off to hear the tone mentioned. Big plus that I like, the front tire doesn’t have that stretched look as with the Michelin’s. I’ll post more as I get some more miles on them over the next few days. So far I like them, how they look on the car, the flush fit up front and that it doesn’t feel too harsh with my Mando custom Sport setting.

Did a 600+ miles on the tires, here is my impressions so far. The install shop did not seem to do a good job with the balance as there was a vibration coming from one of the front tire that was annoying. A check shows it was at 36 psi, like the rears while the other was at 38. Adding some air seemed to resolve it however, the next morning, there was still a vibration, a second balance and the next morning the tire pressure was all over the place. I added air while they were cold, goi1 psi above normal. The vibration was there again but it was one of the rear that showed 34 psi. After a few miles, it went away, I guess there is some flat spotting on.

on my 500+ mile drive today, they were fine and felt quite good on the Sport setting of the Mando unit. My custom Sport setting was a good match with these tires but is a tad firm for anything than smooth roads, for me, but I preferred it so much at high speed runs. When just cruising, I put it in Sport on the Mando App, it provides a good balance of ride comfort and handling. The tires are grippy and responsive and the initial noise has gotten better. It used to be a tad loud over concrete sections but not anymore. This is one tire I think KIA could use on the Stinger and most owners would be happy, for an All Season tires, it does quite well. If Michelin had made these size for the Stinger, I would have gone for those but this is just a really good fit for the car. Now, I’ll have to rework my other Mando setting to find a setting to do a better comfort setting that isn’t bouncy. Tried the Apps Comfort setting and it was just too bouncy, it felt like the 2018s comfort setting.

I did notice some extra vibrations from my rotors, once the tires warmed up. I was able to make it almost go away with some hard braking that was planned but, an unexpected few brought the vibrations back. I’ll have to replace the rotors and pads at all 4 corners, jut to make sure that issues is finally resolved.

With over a month and 4000+ miles of driving on the tires, I can say these tires were a great investment for the Stinger. They maintain the sporty driving nature of the car, grip well in wet and dry while providing a bit more comfortable ride. These have been pushed harder than the Michelin’s since I had them and they stick to the roads quite well. I’ve experienced various surfaces on the drive from VA to AZ and the noise levels on most have been more than acceptable, with some surfaces producing more noise than others. Arizona roads are mainly concrete and most areas are quieter than I would have expected, based on the noise from bridges and overpass in the DC Metro area.

They do seem to have a flat spot when the car sits for a couple of days but that goes away in a couple miles of driving. The Sport setting on the Mando unit and these tires on smooth surfaces at highway speed is just great. Based on all the corner carving, high speed runs in wet and dry on the way over to AZ, these tires have proven to be an excellent match for the Stinger. I’ll say though, there has been some creaks in the chassis since firming up the suspension. I hope KIA will tighten up the chassis in the future. These BF Goodrich Comp 2 AS+ are a good choice for those that want that sporty ride and handling, great grip in corners and all season capability, without a lot of road noise. A great buy in my book.

BFG tire has a shorter stopping distance. On wet pavements, it stops 15 feet earlier, while on dry surfaces, it stops up to 5 feet earlier. Will be equal when comparing Firestone Destination LE3 with Michelin. Consumer reviews indicate that both tires offer a comfortable driving experience. The wet and dry performance categories were won by BFGoodrich's G-force Comp-2 A/S by a slim margin. But the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ is quieter and performs better in cold weather.
