• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Love to know if you're on here... what, when, how's it go, etc? I'm seriously looking at the Xforce Varex catback option.
But more to the point, I'd actually like to sample someone's aftermarket exhaust fitment first hand also. If anybody local is willing to, please PM me?
Cheers.

Also make sure you ask about drone in car, l've got factory bi-modal and no drone...and very happy with the sound :)

Hi Bigbikes. Thanks for your response. Oh Yeah, no doubt, the kia bimodal is a great option but offers no performance (that is published anyway), which was super disappointing (to me) for that sort of money, as I would have ticked that option easily when ordering. I am sure those who have it love it.

I'm not convinced (yet) on the Xforce Varex variable catback either. Might be great too. But have not seen nor heard it first hand. Price is still sharp at circa $2k. The remote control button valved system sounds good in theory too but I like to pop the throttle for sound, not a switch. So now looking at a custom axle back (i.e. muffler replacement) to tie me over until I find the right full system with performance/sound/usability which seems to be a unicorn search, right?

Dropped in to see my man at the muffler shop nearby work, who has done previous work on two of my other cars, and he quoted to fabricate a custom muffler. We spoke about avoiding drone at length. He was keen to give me a stage 1 solution that I would not only enjoy the sound of, but also the benefits of better flow. But I expect little to no performance gains from the axle back. Looking to tune this sound I hope [https://photos.app.goo.gl/LmD2sXAYujaBqRNA8] which is just my stock pipes disconnected at axle while inspecting at his shop.

Fingers crossed. First official mod tomorrow.

Have you seen the OEM bi-modal exhaust at all ?
It was done by the same company which developed HSV's Exhaust..It looks great with much smaller mufflers and running straight through...
l thought abought the X-Force also but you've gotta run wires back to console or dash..then it plugs into cig lighter (12v socket)..and you need to activate through phone app...Honestly the price is abit steep for OEM (l got it in deal) but the sound is really good especially for a V6 and NOT one bit of DRONE...you see some on YOUTUBE with Borla exhaust's and they're loud and sound Crap..just do research..Cheers :)

I actually test drove a stinger with the kia bi-modal. Agreed it was very good, but did not want to buy that demo (wrong colour and was my2018 model) it was already on.
Yeah by Lukey, right? Glad you enjoy it. I'm a little envious. Cheers tho. I'll report how I get on with my custom option.

Company was Lumens in Dandenong Victoria

Well my muffler replace path was a complete fail sadly :(, the moch-up muffler replacement done for me was unable to avoid significant drone and without more extensive additions of J pipe or other type additional mufflers to target the drone out (...at added dev cost), I have cut my losses. The sound was right, the drone at 1800-2200 rpm was awful!. So I am back to oem silence (oh my thankfully!) till I hear someone else's setup first hand... my unicorn hunt continues ... the MRBP pipes look alright so I may investigate this path in the future, but a much bigger investment risk, by importing it, that may still disappoint me...

From everything I read about aftermarket exhaust the drone is described from bad to horrendous, I was going down this path of considering this myself 12 months ago & the closest I got to considering was the Varex System, I got cold feet & have since dropped the idea, glad I did, a drone in this style of car is not something I want.
Good luck with your elusive search.

Oh man fully agree, and I think spending dropping a few hundred bucks to find out first hand will put this mod idea on the back burning for me too. I should have known better, after all the forum chat about it . As per my OP, I'm still keen to hear aftermarket exhausts on any local stingers near me. As I like a good note, but not at the expense of the driving comfort which I've come to know since buying it... and you know what, actually love... serenity now!

Totally agree, the stock exhaust once carboned up gives a deep note at idle & I am totally loving the comfort of the serenity as well.

Maybe try and put a sad face on and hit up the dealer where you got it from and go with the factory bi-modal as i love the sound and the way it works through throttle and drive modes etc...GOOD LUCK

Ok going to do a take-two on the development of my muffler replace option...

Fabricator is adding J pipes, aiming to eliminate the drone...
...and I'll also make sure new pipes ends and the oem stinger tips are "sealed" together, as this was certainly creating reverb sound waves up inside the rear end of the car. Prior to removal I stuffed muffler steel wool around tips, as a check and final test and did make quite a bit of difference.

Both of these might do it... and/or I'm just a sucker for punishment

Fingers crossed. Love the tone, hate the drone.

Taking about a huge case of blue balls. Left us hanging there on the final results with the J pipe vs the dreaded done.

J pipes made little difference. This experiment failed. I bought a prefab aftermarket (see my sig) and happy with it.

Ah bummer. I was right on the edge of pulling the trigger and doing it too.
Hit n miss effort for sure, it might work for your design, pipe size, length etc. There would be some true science to making it work. But there are quite few aftermarket options now that have done the hard work already.

You think just running with a muffler delete then adding resonators would be good or do you think from your experience that it will still be a drone monster?

That what I tried to do. Result was drone. I have read on this forum though people have had success. Hit n miss though.

Has anyone done a secondary cat delete on the new bimodal MY21 version? Keen to hear how it went and how it sounds?
