Another rattle hatch repair.

Did mine all the way around and had zero resistance to close, not sure if it’s going to help but hopefully!!!
Annnnnnd the rattle is back..FML.. what’s the next option?

It's "back", after how long? That hardly makes sense: if the weather stripping stopped the rattle, what changed?

It worked for a few weeks. Idk if maybe the settling of the weatherstrip is the problem? Not thick enough? But it’s definitely back.

Is the noise as bad as before?

If it worked for several weeks, then that's the ticket: get a stripping that is really tight when first put in, and the thing should work once it compresses. Maybe a layer of 3M tape along the line, and then the stripping? I think I'd try that, especially if I already had enough of the stripping still on hand, or knew exactly where to get more of the same.

Wasn’t there a hatch/latch fix from Kia somewhere in the forum? Spent $25 on the weatherstripping to spend more money to not fix the problem is my concern (throwing good money after bad). There’s not enough left to redo it, so needs to be thicker. Don’t want to add 3M and if it doesn’t work make my life hell to get it off

There's a bunch of threads, I'm sure they'll come up searching the forum for hatch rattle. People will add washers usually, same process the dealers were originally doing as the official fix. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a one fix for every vehicle, the hatch tolerances are clearly too far off. With my hatch, doing the typically washer fix caused a tiny gap and wind noise/whistling at certain speeds.

Do the washer and weatherstrip.

Weatherstrip was already done, hence my post.

I loosened the bumper 1/2 turn and added $.06 of duct tape to the latch.

BS problem solved (for now).
