Just to put it out there for people in Socal looking to purchase a stinger. There is a $5k dealer markup on all stingers regardless of trim, which isn't all that uncommon from what I've see on the posts. However, the typical dealer lie tactics were readily apparent. I typically use the Costco car program as a base negotiating tool, which gets you a few hundred dollars off the actual invoice paid by the dealer (invoice plus destination fee) resulting in the "Costco" Price.

They told me that costco doesn't do that program for the stinger, which was a lie. while I waited in the lounge for the salesperson to confirm with his manager what the "final best offer" they could give me, I logged on to costco via phone and got an invoice price along with the participating dealer. The salesperson comes out and tells me their best offer and told him that their statement was incorrect about costco. He said that is what he knows and whatever dealer is calling me is lying to me. I said thanks but no thanks. I purchased from Glendale Kia Car Pros and got an excellent deal. I won't even take my car for service at this Carson Car Pros in the future despite it being 2.5 miles from my home. Business is business, don't try to hustle people.

Kia will send you a questionnaire by e-mail invitation. Part of that is about your dealer experience. It also asks if you got offers from other dealers and why you did not purchase from those dealers. Be sure to fill that part out. Kia needs to know these sharks are lying about their offers and inflating the price of Kia vehicles. Kia can't dictate what dealers charge (or try to charge), but they can put pressure on the owner of the dealership and that should trickle down to the sales manager(s) who are the ones who give their salesmen the B.S. about not honoring the Costco price. Costco also needs to know so they can terminate that dealership from their list. It is the individual sales manager who determines the numbers and who is under pressure to produce big profits.

We have our Stingers available through the Costco program. $350 under Invoice. Let's talk! We would love to have you as a customer. Thank you for considering KIA of Muncie.

Thanks. I've already purchased and it was that exact deal that you stated. Plus, I'm in California.

I've been going to Glendale Hyundai (next door) for years now. They've been great so far!

I did the same thing you did. I went through Costco and met Elias at Glendale and have a Stinger. No hassle and satisfied with my deal. Enjoy your ride!
