• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Am I too critical ?

and they DID replace the cabin filter ( which I immediately swapped out with a new quality one I had ).
what cabin filter do you use/recommend?

I take mine to a local shop for maintenance I can't/won't do myself. Dealer won't touch my car unless it's a warranty repair (even then, they are perpetually booked out so far I've had to do a recall and warranty repair myself already). I'm not sure if I've said this publicly yet, but I'll never buy another Kia or Hyundai product again. In the distant past I had 3 Hyundai's in a row (new), came back after shifting to GM vehicles, and only came back for the Stinger's performance. My experience with Kia thus far in 2021-23 has been worse than my experience with Hyundai from about 2003-2008. Run from the dealers if you currently own, run from the brand if you're looking to buy.

i agree about the service at Kia, but i have had issues with mechanics outside of the dealer. really hard to find a good, reliable, reasonably-priced mechanic.

And I would usually agree, but I have a bounty of good car mechanics here in Vegas to choose from. I'm thinking they pay their techs what they're worth and effectively steal all the talent from the dealers who don't/won't. Thankfully the one I'm using was servicing our second car for 2+ years so it made the 'search' even easier. AND I have a traveling mechanic available for more specialized work if I need them. Even the Discount Tire nearest to our house is top notch.

I fitted a LUFTT filter that I purchased some time ago and am trying out and is supposed to be the best.

The last one I HAD in the car and recommend is this;

Oh and I thought this might be worth a mention.....

I have the original OEM KIA Cabin filter that the car came with ( bottom one in the pic, removed at 2,000KM and replaced with the item in the 2nd link ) and it's impregnated with activated carbon but the one that they installed at the service ( top one in the pic, also OEM KIA ) is NOT a carbon impregnated filter.....

Bit of cost cutting going on by the manufacturer ??

When I purchased my Holden ( GM ) Commodore in 2010 I had a number of warranty issues ( some I had to write to Holden Head Office to get fixed ) but the biggest issues were with the Service Department and their absolute BULL$HIT. The things they did wrong, the things they didn't do ( but charged me for ) and the unbelievably arrogant attitudes of the staff ( including the service manager ) when I questioned anything and often could clearly point out to them how they tried to screw me.

I still remember when a power steering line started leaking ( at ~15,000KM ) and the service rep insisted loudly in front of 6-7 other customers that there was "nothing wrong", so opened I the bonnet, I reached down to the leak and got a few good drops of power steering fluid pooled on my finger, and then wiped it on the guys paperwork ( on a clipboard he was holding ) and loudly responded with, "so you're telling me these cars are 'supposed' to leak fluids ?"

Very nearly a punch up lol.

After 2 years I gave up and did all the work myself thereafter. Since then, GM Holden has shut down. A once good product seriously let down by it's after sale service ( or complete lack of ).

So, based on past experiences and current ones, I suppose KIA has been pretty good, and all things considered, the service department seems generally good too. And IMO, ALL new cars ( since 2015 ) are hit or miss but the one thing they won't do is last.

If the wheels were taken off, one of the things I always do is re-torque the lug nuts, for two reasons. Most places nowadays use an impact gun to tighten, which can result in the lug nuts being over torqued and at different values. Also, most tech’s do not use the star pattern when tightening and just go around the wheel. Both improper techniques can result in warped rotors.

Re cabin air filters. I've used the fram fresh breeze filters in previous cars. Will use the same here.

CF10735 $25USD at amz, or $21.xx with subscribe and save. Seems like a lot for a simple filter. The regular one is FDC10735, can't seem to find that.

Suppose it's not terrible. This gets replaced every 12-14K miles, so about ever 2 years or so.

As for price, when I purchased the LUFTT filter it was on sale ( around AU$50 ) and the AUS made carbon one was about AU$52 which I think is reasonable as a once a year cost, but I also want the best performing filter I can get for the $'s also.

Here in SYD the air quality can get pretty bad, especially with all the diesel ute's, trucks and busses.
As such I pay a bit more for what I hope will do the best job.

P.S. I just went and had a look at the FRAM one you mentioned and it might be worth a try thanks, although in this Amazon listing, I think there's a little confusion as to where this filter goes.....:rofl:

^^I don't rely much on amazon descriptions or application fitment. If it's the right part number, it should be the right part .

The part number came from fram's website application guide.

At the beginning of winter I took my car to a local shop that was new to me but was recommended by a few other car enthusiasts in the area. Basically just took it to get winter tires swapped on (haven't got a dedicated set of wheel/tires yet). I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few performance cars parked out front.
Had an appointment, they took the car immediately in and started working on it while I waited and kept me up to date on the status. They also added a proper internal patch where there was a plug in one of the tires. After it was all done they took it around the block for a test drive and re-torqued the wheels right at the front door when they returned. Also listening to them speaking with a few other customers, they definitely sound like they know what they're doing, especially when one of the customers had failed inspection at a different location for "loose tie rods". They took video of their re-inspection proving it was all BS. Needless to say, I'll be bringing my car to them for future work. First time in a long time I can say I actually trust a mechanics work in this area.
They also mentioned the local Kia dealership usually directs owners with lowered stingers to them for alignment work.

I've been using this for the last 100,000 kms

washed it 5 times so far. I belive it works very well, and will last forever.
