How is it possible that the engine in my 2019 GTS RWD was able to be started? The car sat for 2 weeks and had the radiator and intercooler destroyed.
I saw the car being moved by the repair shop when I was leaving on the highway. They were back it up in the yard to be stored.
Wouldn't the engine be damaged running it with out the coolant ? Would it shut off before overheating damage done?
Confused as hell here. Does the engine have a reset switch? I know my friends audi stalled at an accident - fender bender because of the sensors that cut off the fuel?

An engine can run for a minute or two without coolant. Only a few seconds without oil though. The intercooler damage means it'll suck unfiltered air which is bad long term, but fine for moving around the lot. Not a big deal and done all the time.

All modern cars have a shock switch that cuts off the fuel pump in case of a hit greater than a certain force. It'll have a reset somewhere. Some brands set it more sensitive than others, and it depends on how, exactly, the car is hit.

I guess it really doesn't matter now...the insurance company called and said total loss. $36345.65 worth of damage from the repar shop. Not sure why the original was $11,539.43. There is No way an adjuster came out to see it in person I bet.
Now the search for a new GT2 begins.

@General_Vodka seems to be a one of a kind: he bought a totaled Stinger for c. $12K and fully restored it. Here's a pic of how it was when he took possession:

Your Fed Orange is not remotely that bad. If you cared to try, I bet that you could repair it after collecting the insurance payout and have money left over. But as I said, there is probably only One General on the forum (you could probably collect all car restoration enthusiasts of his caliber in the US into a small conference room).

I think that somebody just wants to separate you from your car. :cautious:
