Fellow members of the forum. I am hoping to get your feedback on an install of ppf film. I have gone ahead and attached some pictures of the Stinger to showcase what was done. I had a full front ppf install completed here in Louisiana and I hate to say I am less than happy with the service. I think it is more so the use of pre-cut pieces than it is the actual product itself. I specifically requested all edges wrapped. So this leaves me with a dilemma and a call for help.

1. How bad does it look? Opinions accepted.
2. What should I do?
3. How should I approach it with the installer?
4. Am, I going a bit overboard?
5. How do I detail a car with edges, everywhere?

Im having ppf installed too for my full front. Shops using precut ppf so interested in responses aswell.

The closeups reveal an incompetent job. My hood points are uncovered too, but the edges are very flat and sealed. Judging by those two points in your pics, there are likely many other places where the edges of the PPF are not properly sealed. I'd note each one of them, return and demand satisfaction: an explanation, no excuses, and fix the install, even if that means having to relay pieces.

I knew it was precut film, but I specifically asked for all edges to be wrapped. The reply was, yes we wrap all the edges. I've watched guys like Chicago Auto Pro explain how they have precut film as the option but extend the borders by several mm to ensure it is wrapped. I suppose the fault is on me for thinking that is what they do to achieve wrapped edges. The only body panel that is actually wrapped is the hood which has the points both inconsistent and look of poor quality. The shop told me to give them a couple of weeks as the film would settle but you cant settle bad edge work, imho.

That part reminds of a botch paint job I received years back for my first car (didn't know jack then) He literally said the same thing you said in the bolded.

Like Merlin suggested. Either get the refund or make them fix it. Your photos can go along way for their business reviews, especially automotive aesthetic.

You guys are right. I appreciate the perspective. I felt the same way, I wanted to ensure I wasn't being overly dramatic about something simple. I will reach back out to them tomorrow morning and see what can be done. It makes me sick because the guy has been in business for over 30 years in the local community and highly regarded. It is one of those, the work had always been mediocre, and he may actually just do a bad job and people are discerning enough to actually pay attention to the service they are paying for.

I’m not sure that I would want that person doing my ppf if they were that inconsiderate the first time. My installer does vehicles that are 2-10x the value of my Stinger, but provided me with the same results.

My guy has the pieces cut with a laser at his shop. They are all templated and he just has the system add extra material for the edge overlap. That job you got is shit. Be courteous and ask for COMPLETE re-do or refund.

I agree! The installer has also agreed to redo the ppf next week. He blamed the strong wind. Just full of it, or thought I was an idiot and wouldn't notice. I've included more pictures of defects.

Those blemishes under the PPF might gas out in a couple of weeks, I'll give him that (unless that is lint or somesuch under there). But the edges!? Was he drunk??

If his 30 year rep is/was deserved, he might pull his sh!t together and perform.

I honestly have no idea. I was frustrated I noticed the edges weren't wrapped like I requested. And then the quality of the edges upon further inspection was not good. This wasn't a cheap $500 job, but $2.5k seems market reasonable and I was happy to pay. Incredibly disappointed with the results. I had come to the conclusion if he didn't agree to fix the work I would file a chargeback and provide these pictures as simple justification.

Ironic, that: you told him specifically, and he goes and not only does not wrap the edges, he creates edges so bad he might as well have lined them with a Sharpie.

I'll have more updates next week. Thank you guys for the feedback.

In the meantime I was able to sneak the Stinger on a lift during lunch today and get Ark midpipes installed. Not too shabby for an hour lunch break. . Tomorrow ill try and have the AEM CAI installed, if not a Saturday job. Favorite mod so far is definitely the rear sway bar though.

Who the hell wraps a car outside?!?!?
I think the guy is full of excuses and made the shit up. He has an actual pull in bay and shop. Im hesitant to even go back next week to have it re-done. At this point he might just mess up more than do good.

This is a good point. Id be kinda hesitant too. But just tell him to fix the edges.

Oh my god that is a garbage job, especially at the price you paid. Half of those edges would just come up from a regular handwash let alone when you pull out a pressure washer. If the guy doing this is working outside he has no damn clue what he's doing. This should be done inside under good lighting.
