Just wondering if anyone is running their Stingers with just the ultimate performance Primary HFC and/or midpipe combo on a stock exhaust and wanted to know how much of a sound difference it makes in terms loudness and tone on the stock exhaust. I have the 2022 Stinger with just a Mishimoto Oil Catch Can and K&N Drop in filters and did not want to lose the exhaust valve and the MBRP option sounded pretty bad in videos for the price point. Also anything I should be worried about aside from the difficult install? I live in LA area so hoping the warmer weather and not having intakes will avoid over boost issues until I get a JB4.

I asked a similar question a while back about the HFC kit. Unfortunately I think you'll overboost without a JB4, Lap3 ProTuner, or other ECU tune. I've dealt with overboosting before (not fun) after my catback was install, all the had at the time was AEM dryflow drop in filters and ram air ducts.

I heard changing the primary downpipes are a real headache.

Sad to hear, was hoping there was a way to get away without any issues. really want the extra sound, but really don't want to lose the valve. I work at as a tech at toyota so I am use to working on headaches as it is. Probably going to take my chances and install the downpipes, it'll at least force me to get a JB4 faster if I have issues.

Hey Ownallday!

The Downpipe / Midpipe Combo will definitely add more sound to the exhaust setup, the tone usually is a bit higher pitched and aggressive.

Like others have said, i would probably do a JB4 to stray away from overboost issues. You'll also have to upgrade the spark plugs as well, we recommend the HKS plugs for the 3.3t. Let me know if you have anymore questions! We could hook you up at @K8 Stinger Store !

Enjoy your new 2022 Stinger!

I have this exact setup on my 2022. Stock exhaust, Ultimate Performance downpipes (primaries and secondaries). Just as was previously stated, it will be louder and higher pitched, but not bad at all, very doable.
Personally, I am looking to go with a Megan Racing exhaust as it will provide a deeper sound without being too much louder, and may free up a bit more power.
I can pretty much guarantee your stock ECU with no JB4 w/ EWG wires or tuned ECU will set an overboost condition if you run downpipes. I highly recommend a proper tune with the downpipes, as you will get the most benefit. I have a lot of respect for Terry and the JB4 (mine is still installed) but I was running into overboost conditions before I even had the downpipes put in (with the JB4 and EWG wires), so I got a proper ECU tune.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Have you noticed boost building quicker after adding the Ultimate Performance downpipes? I noticed a bit of a difference going with catless secondaries. I imagine a bigger difference changing the primaries and secondaries.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't pay too much attention to that. As I got my Lozic ECU then downpipes pretty much consecutively, the difference was so big with the ECU wherein the difference with the downpipes would have much more subtle and a semi-gradual adjustment for the ECU as I did have the addition of the downpipes taken into account by Lozic. That said, looking at the design of the factory pipes in comparison to the Ultimate Performance downpipes, I can tell you that there is no way the UP pipes aren't a huge improvement.
