I will be trading in my 2019 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD which is Black/Black. I have positive equity in my lease. I won't know what that dealership will give me until I go in. However, I imagine it will be less than Carvana.

Thanks

What sales price are they offering you? From what I can tell, the GT2 inventory has really dried up, so it may be hard to get any real discount, but I found that contacting many dealerships within 500 miles of me was how I got a great deal.

I say go with the red interior for $295/month!

It was $295 added to the main price not monthly for the red interior.

I ended up going for it. It’s shipping to the dealership and should be there next week.

They offered me top dollar for my current stinger resulting in 10K positive equity. Other dealerships weren’t close. Therefore, I wasn’t too picky on price.

Seems like a great color combo!

That’s cool. I knew the $295 thing was not really the whole payment. I’m confused as to what the car price ended up being, and what the monthly payment ended up being. Just curious. It’s kind of crazy, every bit of upside we have in used car prices is being eaten up by the extra cost of new, so it’s really like nothing is happening at all in the car world, unless you sell used and buy nothing.

Congrats! Enjoy the new ride.

So I went from a $680 payment /month on a 2019 GT2 bought in October 2018. I ended my old lease an Optima 6 months early so the payment is a bit higher because of that.

With a 3 year lease and the positive equity I got, 0 down it is $560.

I did not negotiate on the price too much as the positive equity smoothed things over in my opinion.

Now the question is do I get black logos to match the ceramic gray better?

Cool! Yes black logos!!!

Wow. All the dealerships in my area have added a $10k "market adjustment" to the price of all their Stingers. Feels bad man.

Congrats! I just recently got into a lease myself. I cannot recall the Money Factor and the financial specifics but it was for 36 months and 15,000 miles a year. I traded in a Honda Accord (2018) with 6,500 in equity. With no money down I came out for 429$ / month on the 15k a year. This was for a GT1 ceramic silver with red interior 2022. MSRP was 45-46,000 and no markup. Got about 2,000 in lease cash as well bringing it down a bit. Buyout is 24,000 dollars at lease end.

Sounds like a MSRP deal with a nice trade allowance, so not bad in this crazy market.

You may still do well to buy it out if you can get a credit union to lend around 2% (since KIA's money factor is about 3.1%). That also gives you the benefit of being able to sell it to whoever offers top dollar in the future... when I sold my 2021 GT2, Carmax offered about $6k more than any dealership.

And Kia finance can be a nightmare based on other member's posts. Let the new bank/credit union deal with the headaches of getting the car off Kia's books, then when you have to do the leg work you'll be dealing with a better and more timely entity.

Congrats.

In this market, 55k for a new GT2 is pretty decent.

Can I get some help? The sticker is $55,020. However, for whatever reason the "family deal price" is $57,065. Does anyone have any idea what the 2K difference is before I call them out on it?

Thanks

I'm guessing family deal pricing is the discount pricing. Except in this case it's using a negative discount factor - instead of deducting $2045, they're adding it to the base price.

Do you think I should call them out on it?

I would. I mean $2K is $2K.

Where did you get the MSRP number from? Was it on the sticker of the car, or general KIA MSRP?

Could be a market markup, could be a markup for dealer installed accessories, could just be a "sucker tax" they are hoping will slip by the buyer.

$48 for tag/title! Is your state just that cheap on that, or is that factoring in some discount from your trade? Tag/title on my $10k less GT1 was $900 (and that is legit what my state charges, not the dealership trying to cheat me).

MSRP is on their website and the sticker on the car. I am in Michigan so I am not sure about the price for the tag/title.

In IL it's $175 to do a title and plate transfer ($150 for title, $25 for plate). In addition they charge a $25 electronic processing fee.

MI has some dirt cheap rates.

We more than make up in it for high insurance rates and crap roads. Pure Michigan.
