Hi there! After test driving a 2018 GT2 last week I am hooked and looking for more information about this car before spending that much money. I am interested in the Atlantica..in love with the color and options can anyone tell me when and where I can get one? My salesperson is trying hard to talk me into the 2018 model..which is a great car but I don't want to regret not waiting for a shot at the Atlantica

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Last I heard, the Atlantica was cancelled. Can somebody chime in on whether I heard wrong or not?

Hi KitKat, welcome to the forum! I was like you in wanting that color combo however, it seems KIA decided to provided those missing options on the 2019 Stinger GT2 instead of doing another Limited Edition run. The brown interior is not listed as an option for the 2019's, you can find info on that on KIA's website. Information on the Atlantica was also removed from KIA Media website, indicating it was no longer coming.

At present, the 2018's have some great lease cash and finance options. A number of us have been snagging GT2's for around $40 - $42K out the (taxes and fees included) door and then buying the car. While the 2019's are starting to arrive, the incentives will not be as good as on the '18s. If you want one at a good price, check out the section on "How to buy a Stinger" for more info on the lease buyout if interested.

Seems like this is... what the Atlantica was...

The Atlantica was quietly removed from KiaMedia.com just a few weeks after it was announced. You'll find plenty of articles covering it when it was announced at the NY motor show in March, but any link you find back to kiamedia will be dead, and all of the official kia press release info was removed as well.

Very strange that they would be so quiet about withdrawing it, considering all of the work put into the announcement.

The Altantic is a sweet Stinger, only 500 of them so it’s extra special.

As far as I know the Atlantica is no more.

Actually there will probably only be 1 and they may have crushed it already since they aren’t putting it into production.

Should have given it to me instead. ;)

Another dealer mentioned that he talked to his KIA rep and his rep told him that he had not heard that it had actually been cancelled.

Either way, I'm going to try to use some logic and probability (although I fully understand that KIA often stumps me when trying to apply either to their decisions).

  1. KIA claims that the really intend to push harder on the Limited Edition front even saying that they want to do several of them this year. Also, we see Genesis doing it right away at the launch of the G70 as well. Assuming that they are not lying or planning to slowly shelve the Stinger altogether, then we can expect some sort of Limited Edition to come out.

  2. Obviously, the easiest possible Limited Edition to put out immediately is the Deep Chroma Blue Stinger since they already have it and it's the only color they haven't put out here (excluding that Lake Stone color which probably no one has seen anywhere outside Korea).
Whether they want to call it Atlantica or whatever doesn't really matter. Whether they want to do the alcantara headliner and special badges doesn't either. They could just release the color with the standard 2019 features like they did with the yellow and still call it a LE.
So I'm assuming there's going to be some kind of Limited Edition and I'm guessing it's probably going to be DCB.
However, I'm sitting put on a purchase. I would consider going with the Panthera Metal with Red interior and my wife is also ok with it too, but unfortunately they don't offer that either (not with the red interior). Since we've seen the DCB in person due to KIA wisely teasing a color at launch that would not be offered, we've decided that we're just going to sit it out. If something better comes along in the meantime, then we'll go with that. However, If you can get your 1st or at least 2nd choice of configurations, then definitely go for it.

That’s the color of my avatar, wanted it when I first saw it but since it wasn’t coming here, I got the Ceramic Silver and am loving it.

When I first enquired I wasn't aware the Dcb colour was available. When they showed me the swatch of the colour I was sold. 10 months later never thought twice about any other colour. I'm sure at some point it will be available over there. But boy does it show the dust. IMG_1514027989352.webp
