Have you been challenged?

Yesterday I went out for a drive and had just got into an overtaking lane and accelerating to pass about 4 cars. From nowhere a brand new S7 Audi came flying up my ass. I punched it a bit then realized he wanted to race so give it a bit more and wasn't even in sport mode. I started to pull away at 180 kays then decided I was going way too fast so started backing off. Had made about a 2 car lengths between us, but could have humped him bad if I had tried. luckily I knew I was on a road where you don't see cops often , but still a chance.

Performance wise they have similar numbers to ours thanks to their 4500lb curb weight.

If your car still has Kia badges on it I bet he jumped on the internet to try to find out why his $85k car performed so poorly.

Infiniti convertible yesterday. Didn't catch the model. I even let them take the lead off the light, got up beside them and then I decided to say goodbye in my rearview mirror. They easily gave up then. It's scary how fast this car moves without too much effort.

A8 tailgating the f*ck out of me today, would let off then come back up on me, then let off again. Finally I took off when I saw him coming up again, let her pull all out from about 70-110 and he didn't try to keep up, which was annoying, like why are you coming up on me and backing off if your just gonna drive normally when I gun it.

Had a Caddy XTS try and race me to the merge from 12 lanes to 1..wasn't much of a race...had him by about 2 car lengths after an 1/8th before i saw his nose drop. He then had to follow me for about 5 miles with his head hung in shame...lol

Does leaving a VW Jetta in the dust count? It would have been better had the road been dry but I guess the effect of smoke coming off my tires and leaving a cloud for him was nice.

Just was partially challenged by another SRT Charger, this time on the highway. I was merging onto I95 when I noticed the SRT in the right lane so I floored it near the end of the ramp to get in front. I got about a car length ahead when I realized he must have punched it too. I wasn’t pulling ahead of him anymore, but he couldn’t catch me and stayed about a car length behind until I let off. He zipped around me at full throttle and actually gave a thumbs up as he passed. I do have to say the exhaust on those SRTs sound sooo good when opened up I was a little jealous. Might be time for a new exhaust sooner than later.;)

I know it wasn’t a direct head to head race, but still kinda surprised he couldn’t gain on me over 60mph. Maybe these Spectre intakes are working even better than I initially thought.

My wife in our Durango R/T AWD got an incredible launch out of a light and put a half car length on me before I got Stinger going. I was able to walk past her but was really surprised at how quick the Dodge SUV was . Thought I’d smack RT easily but it’s pretty quick off the line. Noticed that when I rented a Dodge Callenger RT. The Durango RT with same V8 has shorter first gear and really jumps off the line.

She was funny ...called me and said this @$&! Kia just beat her in our Hemi powered Dodge.

First “interesting” experience today but it was never a race or challenge, just some idiot in a Dodge Grand Caravan who didn’t know how to turn right on red. Laid on the horn and he didn’t move, in fact almost backed up a little. Finally turned right on the green and I raced around to his left and floored it. Boy that made him mad. He tried to catch up, going 65 in a 45 zone. Never caught up as I darted around all the other slooooow southern drivers around here. This was in Eco mode.

There is a lot i mean a lot of street racing aroumd where i live, and i constantly get challenged, had not lost until a week ago, a c6 corvette took me out....damn lol

It's been mentioned by Alex on Auto that the Stinger doesn't have as low/aggressive of a first gear as it could. Probably to get more life out of the transmission.

I was lucky enough to get besides a Maserati Ghibli 2017 in dual lanes yesterday when we both looked at each other and floored it. Not sure If I heard my engine more or his. We were going up a fairly steep bendy dual lane and plonked our foots on the pedal. I had put my GTS black into sport mode along with the internal switch into sport mode and we both went for it. Unlucky for us the road ends up in a 60 zone with speed cameras but I got a full car length ahead before we cruised into camera zone. I had bi modal exhaust, race plugs, K&N intake and in looking online after, found the Maserati has 350hp so almost an even match. Both V6 and twin turbo.

Yeah interesting 3.67 1st gear ratio in Stinger verses 4.71 in Dodge. Was loooking at Panamera and it’s over 5 for first. Guess Kia is banking on low end torque to get car moving. I noticed tall first gear in autocross as I could use first gear in slow sections. Good to know if I’m lazy off the line most cars have lower first gear than the Stinger.

...so perhaps a different rear end gear might be a performance enhancement on Stinger?

The rear end ratio for the GT is 3.54:1, I believe, while the 2.0 has a 3.73:1 rear end. So it's possible, I imagine...

Nice Kill, or should we start calling these wins "Sting or Stung"!;)
I have to say its a great feeling being able to beat cars double our price!

Also please don’t take this the wrong way but I’m just curious why you couldn’t completely destroy him with the upgrades you have?!?

RaceChip claims increases of 57Hp & 133Tq, and intake & exhaust is about another 20-30Hp. A rough estimate should put you around 450Hp & 500Tq which should have you run low 4s to 60, and low-mid 12s in the 1/4m. A stock Ghibli is about 0.5 secs slower to 60 than a GT, and the GTS Black has been dropping times by another 0.5 secs.

I'm looking to get similar upgrades myself and just thought that extra 75-100Hp would completely embarrass a Ghibli, but they may have had upgrades to.

Either way a win is a win and congrats on your "Sting!" ;)

I've been able to "check the box" vs.
- 2017 6spd Mustang GT (no launch)
- 2015 Jag F-Type S (launch)
Also, was paced on I-95 by some GTI's, STI's, Golf R, and a M3...I guess some kind of club. Weird they all fan out the M3 pulls ahead w flashers on waiting for me....so we go from 60mph to 140mph....by the time we let off, he never had more than a half a car. Always seemed to gain when he shifted, but as he whined out he'd creep away.
Quick wave n thumbs up, got off at the next exit.

140mph on any public road is not only a danger to yourself, but anyone else on the road.

Had my first official challenge this evening. I think it was a Toyota?? Tried to beat me to the merge point on a dual on-ramp...toyed with him a bit to let him think he had defeated Turbo Stinger Granny...then i floored it...and he was toast. Wow... exhilarating!! My husband was in the car with me...needless to say...I think I got him a little "excited". Lol.

maam, hats off to you. please stop hanging out with the mrs. when she lets me drive the stinger, cars will pull up next to me on federal or pull alongside on 95, honk, and when i roll down the window, they are upset that it isn't the mrs racing them. i have been replaced?!?!?!?! daaaaaaamn.

Just got challenged by a tuned ‘16-18 Wrx and easily smoked him!:D

I was cruising about 40mph on an empty road when a kid in nice blue Wrx pulled up next to me. He must have been in 2nd cause he was making a lot of noise revving & dumping the gas. To his credit the blow off valve and the exhaust sounded mean.

I couldn’t help myself so I switched it to Sport mode, gave him a thumbs up and as soon as he took off I floored it. I caught him almost instantly and had a full car length on him by 70. I let off to be safe, but he kept slowing down too and stayed behind me. Is that car talk for “tail between your legs”

I felt a little bad cause I loved my WRX, but it was a little fun putting a show off in his place.
