Hello, can someone tell me why my rear Brembo brakes are finished after only 27,000km. Even ahead they are at half. Is this normal?? THANKS

Bonjour, quelqu'un peut me dire pourquoi mes freins Brembo arrière sont fini après seulement 27,000km. Même en avant il sont à la moitié. Esque c'est normal ?? Merci

you have a heavy braking foot Pierre. rear pads could wear sooner but usually about evenly with front pads. but fronts at half while rears are 'finished' isn't that much difference since you'll be replacing all of them at once.

My rears wore a bit quicker than the front in my first Stinger, but I got 108k miles out of them.

Modern cars will almost always wear out the rear brakes first. Perfectly normal.
Every car I've owned recently with rear discs have that "feature".
Now that cars have all the traction control, ABS, etc tech, the rear brakes are used more often than in older cars.
That's done mostly so the car stops flatter instead of nose diving. (Jam the brakes hard and the front end doen't dip like your grandads car). Also rear brakes are usually smaller and thinner than front, so the rear will tend not to last as long.

My rears wore out in almost the same time. Ive noticed on my car that the rear pads wear super fast on the inside, the outside pads not so bad but once one side is cooked you have to the both anyway.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It also could be heavy right foot, lots of tc interference = more rear brakes to prevent spinning tires especially on rwd only models.... i'm at 46k miles now and have more than half of my pads left front and rear..

I do quite a bit stop and go traffic so Im betting that doesnt help.

Inside wearing more than outside on the rear Brembo dual piston caliper - suggests there was/is some binding of the pads within the caliper.
They should absolutely wear evenly (inside vs outside) on this type of caliper.

I would be curious as to what caused the wear difference.

27k kms is very early wear for street driving. Do you brake aggressively?, always?

Did you see the pads yourself? Or you were just told, they are worn?

Would love to see a picture of these "worn" pads

I'm glad I don't have Brembos my car stops on a dime with no issues.

i'm at 47k miles on original brembos... still over 50% life left

Yea, it does seem like yours were defective! Good luck on your new pads.

At ~10K miles I pulled the wheels to rotate tires. Brake inspection reveal practically brand new looking bads (front/rear inside/outside). This was to be expected.

I'm not a heavy braker, in fact, coming form decades for MT driving, im of the habit to look ahead and and anticipate. To date I've had one hard braking event that triggered abs on dry/warm (70F ambient) pavement.

In fact, I suspect stopping distance would be shorter with threshold braking than engaging abs. When some @sshole with barely functioning brake lights decides to stop in the middle of the road for no reason, things happen. Goes to show, even the crappy floating caliper style brakes can still lock up the wheels. Those of you with the brembo's would prob just lock up sooner in this scenario.

With my driving style, I expect the pads to easily last 70K+.

A more likely scenario is - Mechanic upsold brake pads WAY WAY WAY too early. Unless the use saw the worn brake pads, we are just going by the words of the 2nd hand (or 3rd hand) words of the technician/service advisor.

@Pierre Théberge, was the early brake pad replacement done by a Kia dealer, or a private mechanic?

I strongly suspect there was nothing wrong with the OEM pads, and the dealer/technician imply upsold you early.

Les plaquettes de frein arrière que je vous parle, se sont les Originaux quand j'ai acheté ma kia neuf. Je vais essayer de les retrouver pour vous les montrer. Mais je pense que je l'ai et jeté
.A +

Well, these are definitely worn, very curious why they are worn so early.

It's also curious why the pad 2nd from left, is significantly more worn than the 3rd and 4th from left, in the 1st image.
