So originally I was going to be nice and not post about my experience with BMS so as to not tarnish a company based upon one incident, but recently, I've found out how childish Terry Burger can be so.....

It started with my purchase of a BMS Intercooler. I took the info on their site as legitimate being;

BMS SALES AD.jpg

I got the intercooler and although I was initially please with the intercooler itself, I was somewhat put off by the 2 different colored silicone ducts supplied ( 1 Black & 1 Blue ).
Anyway, I moved past this and proceeded to attempt to install the intercooler and that's when things really came unstuck.
To install the intercooler in my Australian delivered Stinger would require extensive modification and or removal of compliance required parts.

So, I got in touch with BMS and Terry suggested I "try to make it fit" and was even kind enough to send me a picture of an installed example...

to which I pointed out.....

BMS 2020 STINGER INSTALLED.jpg

There was more I was going to point out about that install job, but I refrained.

So, after a bit of "back and forth" Terry offered me a partial refund but that was pointless since it wasn't going to fit my car and how could I on-sell it in Australia knowing that it needed pretty extensive mods to make it fit ( and even then it would be questionable fitment at best ).

KEEP IN MIND THE STATEMENT ABOUT IT BEING A "DIRECT REPLACEMENT"

So, after a while I received a full refund and dropped the kit off at a place of Terry's choice.

Soon after Terry changed the site page to say "Australian customers please contact us for additional fitment information before ordering."

I figured "that's that" and lets move on.

So just yesterday I went the BMS site to buy a transmission cooler kit, and using their payment options, opted to pay with PayPal and soon received an email stating that my order was being processed.

Not long after that, I get an email from Angela at BMS stating the following.

"Hi,

Our credit card processor has reported that a proxy IP address was
used to place this order. For security reasons BMS does not accept
orders placed through proxy IPs. As a result we will cancel/refund
this order. You may place the order again through a traceable IP address.

We apologize for the order processing delay but given increased
fraudulent credit card activity we've had to take these additional
steps to protect both BMS and our customers from fraudulent
transactions.

Thanks,
Burger Motorsports, Inc"

I responded with;

"Hi Angela.

I did not use a proxy I.P address. I used the PayPal option through your website ( and am not using a VPN ).
Are you saying that you don't accept PayPal ? or is this about something else ?

Please clarify."

and I get:

"
Hi Scott-
I believe that there was an issue in the past with a Kia Intercooler fitment issue and then a PayPal dispute.
We have other dealers in Australia that you can reach out to."

So In essence, I've been blacklisted for standing up for myself and my rights.
As a result, I will no longer be buying anything from BMS ( including indirectly ) thanks to their childish attitude, and for those of you considering BMS for any future purchases, be warned !

And I’ll support you and spread the word as well. WE THE CUSTOMERS hold the power not the company . You need someone to buy your products and I’m tired of these car companies speaking to customers like there no one when in fact they are spending a lot of cash on products and exposure for the company. They really don’t know the power of the people . This is wild coming from bms and terry though. “Make it fit” huh @Terry@BMS ? Smh

Cancel culture based on one side of the story being told! Fitting for the degradation we have experienced in society today! OP I hear your side and appreciate it but your experience should not color others! Your experience might have more moving parts than you or any of us could understand. Let he who is WITHOUT SIN cast the stone!

Sorry, I'll correct myself with regards to the "make it fit" comment as it was more along the lines of try to make it fit.

But at the end of the day, it was far from a direct fitment and the only way I could see how they got it installed in the yellow Stinger pictured above is to bend the entire front crash bar out / forward.

I'm a pretty reasonable guy but I don't like people trying to direct me into something I know isn't correct.

I'm not even sure what you're trying to say there bud......

I'm referencing the post immediately following your initial post. Spreading the word about bad service, power of the people etc. You having a bad experience or a less than favorable experience should not get the company a bad designation. From your post the initial issue was completely resolved in your favor! The following situation could just be a company changing its procedure across the board to protect itself and future customers from experiencing similar issues!

Just as a reference...I was blacklisted from eBay after being a powerseller for bringing 1 PayPal dispute...it happens!

Two sides to the story and then you have FACTS and clear details and explanations laying it out in diagrams.

I feel you. Respect and agree with you. As you stated it’s always two sides to the story as op changed terrys statement but was the need to black ball the dude necessary?

Every story has 3 sides..yours, mine and somewhere in the middle is the unbiased truth! We all have the propensity to skew our recollection in our best favor! Blackballing is a stretch...think from this perspective. If you make any purchase now the information is tracked and stored...calling on that information for future purchases is not necessarily a negative! I purchased parts for my Infiniti G37 from Amazon..when I searched for parts for my Audi it flagged and made me change my vehicle...same for my Stinger. Someone saying "Bud you have the same vehicle and I don't want you to have issues so I am not going to sell you this item" is not blackballing...but that is just my perspective!

That's one point of view. The other is mine as above.

You might be correct but it doesn't appear that way to me. If BMS is no longer selling to Australian customers, they should update their site accordingly and not allow the transaction to be processed.

Since that's not the case, I can only determine it was personal ( refer email reference to my prior intercooler purchase ).

Yes, the dispute was settled in my favour after more effort on my behalf than I feel should be required.

Again, it's an experience I had and might not be common but in my eyes, it is what it is.

Agree to disagree...everyone in this life has their own path, experience and perspective!

To the OP, you think these fitment issues are the result of your car being RHD not LHD?

Edit: Dyslexia prevented distinguishing left from right.........

You're welcome to disagree but this section of the forum is to share one's experiences, be they good or bad, and I'm doing just that.

If one thousand people share the same experiences ( good or bad ) it helps guide other's going forward ( the point of this thread unless I'm mistaken ).

My experience with BMS was less than good on the first interaction and then pretty damn poor on the second. As I originally started with saying; "So originally I was going to be nice and not post about my experience with BMS so as to not tarnish a company based upon one incident"
and I believe that I was being quite nice since although it was unpleasant, I did get a full refund, and did not post on here so as to "not tarnish a company based upon one incident" but considering the second incident, I thought it worth posting my experience.

Some may have had a good experience with BMS ( just look at all the "GOOD" posts for BMS in this thread (?) but I didn't, and I'm sharing with this community my experience including explanations and pictures ( not just opinions ).

Mine is but an experience and you can feel free to share yours ;)

Other way around ;) ( I know what you meant ).
The fitment issue was a direct result of the vertical supports on the crash bar that Australian delivered Stingers have.
Other than that, it probably would have fitted.

^^Seriously, i'm not usually directionally challenged....

With age, it seems sometimes the fingers have a mind of their own, disconnected from the brain.

One of the things that really soured the experience was the expectation vs reality and then the expectation that I do whatever it takes ( including grinding and / or bending ) to make something fit when it was sold as a "direct replacement" item. I expect some trimming and some minor tweaks but this would have needed some decent surgery to make it fit.

Another point is that I cut a significant amount of the plastic shroud out just to get the intercooler into it's seated position prior to trying to re-install the bumper crash bar and since in the end, it didn't 'directly replace' I now have a shroud that's extensively hacked up for nothing which would cost me over AU$300 to replace so I have to wear that on the chin.

I guess my only gripe would be admit to your mistake from the company. He clearly showed the product didn’t fit and got pushback. Situation still was resolved but the company acted like it was his fault. And then they go and change the installation instructions after the fact.

Honestly, it really sucks that the fmic didn't live up to your expectations of what was advertised or the required modifications to make it fit weren't acceptable to you. You received your refund for the fmic. It sounds like the issue is with the paypal payment dispute. Do you expect someone to accept that form of payment from you when you recently filed a dispute to not pay them?

I forgot what thread that was posted in, but there was extensive discussion of it. I think we determined it was extra support required by Australian rules.

Either way, apparently BMS didn't know they existed, or didn't think that it was important enough to put a note on their product page prior to purchase.

I'm surprised you got black-balled. Have you reached out to @Terry@BMS specifically?
