Took a closer look at my PPF when I took it home and it wasn't a precise job to me. They advertised digitally cut film to fit my make and model (well, "almost every") but it looks like some pieces were hand cut. These are just some, like 1/3, of the pictures. I'm taking it back Monday to get it looked at and fixed since there's a warranty, but I'm not hopeful that it can be what I expect given how this left the shop. And I doubt they're willing to essentially redo the whole thing. They even forgot to finish the bottom front bumper!

Am I overreacting? Are some of these non issues?

I know chargebacking is an option, but I don't believe I'll win given all the waivers and stuff I've signed. Do I just bite the bullet and cut my losses? It's just a lot of money and stress, and with some other personal things going on in my life right now I feel awful about it all.

A few months ago, one of our members had a completely botched PPF job: the entire job was redone, but I don't know what the outcome of that was. Judging by your pics, the installer was drunk. A complete redo is in order on any piece that has edges that uneven, puckered, lifted, untrimmed and unsealed. No argument.

Re do that wrap!!!

That is one horrible ppf job. I would want to remove that and get my money back. Don't know if that is possible though. How much did you pay? Edit: after another look, looks like the biggest problem is door handles, which is not that critical, i guess. But still pretty shitty edge cutting. Again, depends on how much you paid for that. Seems to me, a full, good ppf job is around $4-5k

It was $4.5k for full coverage and about $1.2k for the ceramic (which looks fine to me), which I was fine with if it was a good job. Now I'm at their mercy. And yeah I don't think it's likely they'll just outright refund me...I'm just so lost. Will obv. update on Monday

+1 for the redo, a charge back may not work as typically they like the easy I ordered x and never received x or x was broken and was returned. In this case you did receive the service, but it was crap

I would go to the owner/manager and fight for a redo at no charge

For $4.5k i would expect all the trims and doors handles to be removed, which obviously wasn't done. For $2k it would be an "ok" job for me. For 4.5 it is rip off. I was planning to get a full ppf on my car. But after reading so many horrible stories, decided not to take a chances. I got my painted carbon fiber hood wrapped at local shop. With all the great reviews and lambos and Ferraris parked outside, still got the result, i am not happy about (still not as bad as yours). So hopefully you can get yours completely redone.

Thank you guys for the advice and support. I will show him the pictures on Monday and ask for a full refund or redo, paying attention to lifting, alignment, clean edge cutting, and proper sealing.

Wait what. 4k for that? Id be happier giving them 4k and having my car not have that mess. Charge it back

That's almost laughable bad.
I'd ask for it to be removed and my money refunded.

I hope they'll grant me a refund. I don't think a chargeback would work just because of all the paperwork I've signed, which basically says I accepted the services and whatnot.

That doesn't sound too promising. Maybe try to push them into redoing it.

Most PPF guys are happy to fix issues like that and replace botched panels. I’d give them a chance to do the right thing.

I had a complete botched job with all the edges failing, dirt and sand under the film and they completely removed it, did a mild paint correction and set me free to get a different installer with full refund. They wanted the chance to redo it though. They were more of the dealership budget installer with fast turn around kinda guys.

The new installer has replaced panels damaged by road debris free of charge and also filmed new carbon parts that weren’t even part of the original install free of charge. So happy I found this guy. Just took some research I neglected to do the first time around.

Brought the car in, showed them some areas and sent them all the pics I have. Emphasized my main issue was with the alignment and hand cutting. They said they'd look over it with their team and fix whatever needed to be fixed, said they understood I just wanted it done right. Though he didn't seem too enthused when I said I thought most of it should be redone. Will update.

Well they have to fix it!

How much you can sue for in small claims varies from state to state, but you always have that as a plan B or C. The credit card company might be willing to perform a chargeback. It doesn't hurt to try, if it comes to that. IMO they either need to replace all the bad sections (redo) or remove it all and refund. They'll be motivated to redo the job, as it's just eating into their margin versus losing all the money for the sale plus time they spent installing, removing, and the ppf used. They should be motivated to get it right, if they know what they're doing.

I’d call the CC and do a charge back.

I'll see how they handle it the second time around before doing anything. They should expect me to continue having issues if they don't get it right, which I hope motivates them.

Good news boys - they did a decent job the second time around. Nothing too egregious like in the pictures. Thanks for your support!

Lesson learned to do my research next time.

Glad you got that sorted out.
