Who wants a sedan these days -- the world wants suvs and hatchbacks. and thats really what a stinger is -- an awd five-door hatchback with gt looks. In essence, it IS a low slung SUV with a big hatch. KIA, DROP THE SEDAN DESIGNATION.

That would be easier, but I think the SUV vendors need to drop the #@!$ "Sport" and tell it like it is -- Utility Vehicle. There is nothing sporty about any of them except maybe the Porsche and Lambo versions.

Take a BMW X5 or X6 for a spin , they drive incredibly well , I've never driven the Audi or BMW versions but I'm betting they handle pretty well too..............the North American version well yes ..........boats

Yes, they handle fairly well -- for high center of gravity vehicles. Different class entirely.

C'mon , the Stinger is no SUV / CUV . maybe a better nomenclature would be Sport Hatch

I didn't see KIA actually marketing the Stinger as an SUV, i meant it is SUVish with AWD and the big hatch. BUT I like SPORT HATCH. that works!

Just market it as a sedan. We don't need all the morons who buy SUVs just because and never take them off-road cluttering up this forum. We've already got enough morons here. :D

Marketing it as an SUV would be a massive blunder. The Stinger is nothing like an SUV. As a low riding, sporty GT, it's near the opposite. You can get away with some "spin" in advertising but customers will ultimately punish you for out and out fraud.

Sportback. That seems to be the new lingo for vehicles of this style since a lot of US buyers seem to not like hatchback as it somehow seems to bring up "wagon". While most CUV/SUV are really just wagons with a lift. :)

I like the term Hot-hatch to describe the sportback/hatchback segment. I think it goes well when describing the Stinger.

The term Hot-Hatch is for a smaller, traditional hatchback car. GTI, Focus RS, Golf R, Civic Si. The Stinger does not fit in that category.

Also the stinger isn’t an SUV/CUV - trying to justify that is just crazy talk.

Sportback has been kind of a catchall not a wagon not a sedan designation. Mitsubishi had the Ralliart Sportback, Lexus had the IS300 Sportcross ( I think that was the name of it).

It’s marketed as a sedan, but I’m still a believer that it’s really a truck...

In all honesty, don’t think it really matters how it’s marketed. They’re trying to get adults with a family and young people to buy this car. It might actually help to pitch this to your spouse as a “sedan” and not my mid-life crisis sports car.

Looking forward to when you install the body lift and 32” tires. ;)

English( England) term for Sedan

The Stinger an SUV? Might as well call it a tractor then :p It has nothing to do with an SUV at all.

But I'm not even sure it's all about SUVs ... sure, they're in high demand and sell well, but the 2018 Geneva Autoshow shows the makers producing and marketing GTs, even as AMG variant etc.
