Stinger discontinued in 2022

It was advertised in many ways in many countries so I not going to comment too much on that subject but the worldwide target audience for the V8 version was the "family locked throttle jockey" ( I was told ). More professionally referred to as a "family friendly muscle car".

But any way you sell it, when you put it in the ring with the top guns you've mentioned above, it was never going to succeed. Less bells and whistles. No "prestige" etc etc.

Over here in Aus the car had a great following ( as a "family practical muscle car" ) but also carried the tag as a "Bogan Mobile". Looked down upon by those who drive 6 figure Euro beasts to take their kids to school and soccer practice but were incapable of driving a nail into a bowl of jello let alone using a quarter of what they had.
There was a V8 version released? I wasn't aware of that.

It’s true guys the stinger is dead. Production has not stopped yet but it will.

What will that do as far as ownership goes?

There are no laws in America that state a manufacturer must keep a supply of parts.

Do you think Kia will be loyal to the car that made all this possible?
all the stingers in the usa...ceteris paribus...are still under 5 basic year warranty..and mine is CPO... you would think they would have to as long as 10 year limited powertrains are still valid.

Interesting quote from Kia's design chief, when asked at the LA Auto Show if the Stinger would be replaced by something else:

“The spirit of Stinger remains and will remain. I like to think that the EV6 has the genes of the GT. We’re going to do a GT of that, and it has the Stinger in it.”

He goes on to say: “Stinger has been a transformational car, and opened a whole new perspective as to what Kia can be, sporty and a precision driving tool. EV6 is now doing similar.”

Sounds bad. Maybe 2022 or 2023 is the last year. Seems like a total redesign won't happen unfortunately.

Well, if they let the EV6 GT derive styling cues from the Stinger, I'll be very happy. As my new position will require a lot of travel I am seriously considering buying one to keep the miles off the Stinger.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Well, I guess this will be the only Kia product I'll ever own then. Not interested in EVs or anything remotely resembling an SUV.

Same here! This freaking blows. Ugh Electric!!!!!!

The only thing that makes sense is a hybrid stinger with the same current engine and electric for more horsepower and that seems doubtful. Hybrid platforms are very complex to build which is why they are usually only in higher end vehicles or low end mass produced ones.

OR they could see if they could get their hands on the motor Alfa Romeo uses for the Guila Quadrifoglio... that motor in an AWD platform would be insane.

The Stinger is currently the worst selling car in Kia North America's offerings. Since it's introduction, the only Kias that have been outsold by the Stinger are the Cadenza and K900, both of which have been cut from Kia's North America inventory.

The thing that makes the most sense is exactly what Karim Habib has said--moving on to a more profitable platform and giving it a performance variant.

Though folks here are obviously unhappy about it, nothing makes more sense for Kia's bottom line.

I'm excited for electric cars, but at the same time I'm not ready for full electric. I'm finally getting to a point in my life where I can buy some stuff I've always wanted, some big ol' V8's and now they're all going away.

At the dealer yesterday getting an oil change and having them look at the roof molding paint coming off, talked to the sale manager and he said 2022 is the last year for the Stinger, they have a real nice gray one with the Scorpion package on the floor... asking 62k for it

Damn, I saw a black Scorpion going for 55k which I thought was way overpriced for what essentially is a worse spoiler (imo) different wheels and a half assed black package. If they wanted to charge that much they coulda at least went all the way and do gloss black on all outside trim. Adding a few more ponies wouldn't have hurt either. Make it 380-400 to justify the bad ass scorpion package name.
