New Recall - February 2021

First year's maintenance is on them, supposedly. [haven't confirmed if this is Kia or dealer specific]

I've never ever ever ever cleaned an engine, other than places that *might* need it (or if an animal made a nest), like electrical connections or around the plugs before taking them out. Top of the engine block if the car is really old would be helpful, just to allow it to dissipate heat better. Done by hand, yeah it's fine. With any sprayed fluid - heck no. People are lazy though, and will find the answer they want online to spray away.
For sure! 100% :thumbup::thumbup:

oh don't get me started on how lazy people are... I work for a small business that has been trying to stay afloat due to COVID and they have so many lazy employees it blows my mind... I won't get started lmfao

btw the first oil change is free AT THE DEALERSHIP YOU PURCHASED THE CAR FROM... not just any Kia dealership... funny thing is I purchased my Stinger in Florida but when it came time for my first oil change the car was in New York so I had it done by a trusted local mechanic I knew through a friend...

I had the recall work performed Today and got my first oil change, took 2hrs When they asked me for $51 I was a bit surprised since it was my first oil change and then they did mention the part about it being free from the dealer you purchased the car from. That would have been a 2hr round trip drive plus the wait.

That's pretty strange they charged you for the oil chance... They should have said something before but whatever... classic dealership tricks lmfao!

I just bought my used 2018 Stinger Premium at an Acura dealership. They told me all the recalls were taken care of. On my Kia apps and website said the SC196A is still active. So I made an appointment and asked if they have the parts in. They responded and said they need to inspect it and order parts specific to my VIN if I need it. We'll see how it goes on Thursday.

Such liars! lol!

I am gonna go check to see if the info has been updated. I have the piece of paper saying that did in fact perform and complete the recall.

It is not VIN specific!!! Dealerships are so dum dum.

Sorry I was talking about the kit for the recall.

Call them back. Tell them your VIN number and ask them to check if it's impacted by the recall (it is) and then get them to order the part and book your appointment to have it installed. Don't waste your time going twice.

I called "my" Kia service center and did the ordering over the phone. Service tech super knew exactly what I was talking about and ordered the part; next week I had the repair done.

Yes. Call and have them order the part for your vin... I called mine and they already had all the info to order as I've been there before for service and purchased the vehicle there. Had the kit in for me in 3 days. Then took 90 min to install.

Will do! Thanks!

They don’t even have to inspect just to order the parts kit. Lol. SMH! I have probably around 5 KIA dealerships in a 50 mile radius. I called each single one of them to repair my recall and every single of them ordered the part. I went to the dealer who ever called me first lol.

You are doing other Stinger owners a community service: now those other four dealerships will have the part on hand the first time another Stinger owner calls to get the TSB done. :)

Totally ridiculous that they feel they need to inspect it first. Even if by some off chance that a particular vehicle doesn't need it, the kit is only a few dollars. I would think that customer satisfaction is worth way more than a few $$$, and even if they have an extra kit or two in stock, someone else will eventually need it.

So the Garden Grove Dealership totally wasted my time. The service advisor hid behind his desk and sent a new hire to be the middleman. Basically they wanted the car for 3 to 4 hours to inspect the wiring, then order the parts and have me come back. They didn't have any rentals available and wouldn't give me a Lyft since my work was over 5 miles away. I told them I'm going somewhere else. I'll be callong other dealerships and see whoever has the part in before I even make an appointment.
