So as posted in my rebuild thread, i have a 2018 gt2 that i am rebuilding. And today i found out that the passenger turbo has chipped fins. The car starts and runs, and i had no idea that the fins were damaged. I am thinking a piece of the KN intake got lodged it there during the crash. will upload some pics shortly.

Stuff it with the pure turbos.

If you run that turbo, it will explode. Guaranteed.
Well it has been spun already, just not nowhere near full boost. Limpest of limp modes. I had no idea. I do wonder where the bits are now, hopefully nowhere inside the cylinders..

If it were me, I'd replace the turbo. Does the engine idle smoothly? I'd probably also do a compression test to make sure your valves weren't damaged.

Best guess is debris that size should end up somewhere in the intake tract. If you’re lucky, it might just be in the intercooler.

The engine ran fine in limp modes. I will check all the pipes when I put the support back on. Hope the valves are fine, I didn't think it would get that far.

You're probably right. It would most likely get lodged in the intercooler. Either way, no way I'd use that turbo. The compressor will be out of balance, if it hit full boost like it would be toast.

Turbo is getting swapped, now do I go OEM or go for an upgrade?

My vote is OEM. I still don't think tuning has matured enough in the US for the turbo swaps. Unless you want to use octane booster, race fuel, meth injection, and/or E85 mixtures.

That, and stories of transmission problems are floating around the interwebs.

Looks like you all know way more than I do, so I'm asking some advice. I have a 2020 gt stinger and I have a wastegate issue. Whenever I feather gas or turn off car, there is a chirp from wastegate. Dealership said they would replace the turbo with squeaking wastegate, but they have to take out engine and transmission. My car only has 5300 miles. Do you think I should get it fixed or just deal with the squeak. I just dont want more damage or check engine lights. Thank you!!

I didn't take out the engine when I did mine. But dealer will probably do things by the book and that takes forever. Anyways it's up to you. I never had the option of warranty work lol. If there are no codes now then idk if it's really annoying.

No codes. I just dont want something to blow or have loss of performance.

Then I don't think there is a performance issue then. Turbo will probably tell you if it's unhappy.

But, why did you replace it?? What issue were you having?
Besides having an check engine light and 2 boost codes? Nothing really, it still worked. It was for sure louder due to more turbulence or something.
