2020 Stinger Rumors

Another year of dealer stupidness has left them with lots of 2019s to sell off. However, unlike other vehicles, it seems like the Stinger’s come out in November. It was this way when they launched in the US in 2017 for the 2018 model year, same last year and it continues this year. The official announcement is up on kiamedia.com as of 11/26. The 2.0T GT Line is the only 4 cylinder model available this year. It would be nice if they could have bumped the the power ratings higher for that engine in the Stinger.

A little off topic. MB has an 2.0T AMG 45 with 375hp/350tq, BMW has a tweaked 2.0T in the X2 M35i producing 301hp/325tq, Volvo was getting 362hp/347 out of their Polestar tuned Super-Turbocharged 2.0T. Most manufactures were in the 280-300hp and 280-295tq range from a 2.0T in production vehicles. With engine downsizing, some folks are pushing the limits of what can be done with small displacement engines. One can only hope this new 2.5T will be a good engine and come with power rating over 300 to replace the 2.0T doing duty in the Stinger. Plus they should make sure it gets a higher tune in the Stinger than the Optima, so they don’t overlap.

2021 is when we should expect changes for the Stinger however, G/H/K seems to be having some issues tuning the 2.5T, they have pushed back the launch of Genesis G/V 80 series vehicles a couple of times already. I think the 2.5T and 3.5T is supposed to debut in those vehicles first. Hyundai’s US market Sonata is said to have the NA 2.5 as the base engine, but even that has been delayed. Based on the new tech the other mid sized vehicles are launching with, we can expect some similar stuff in the refreshed 2021 Stinger.
I test drove an MB AMG 45 as one of the vehicles before buying my Stinger. Yes, 375 HP from a 2.0T is impressive, but the turbo lag was HORRENDOUS!! Step on the gas, and you felt like a geriatric on a 10 speed bike for a good second and a half then all of a sudden.....all hell broke loose. One drive, and I would NEVER buy one!!

I had a C-class in 2014 with the same problem. It wasn't meant to be a performance sedan but geez was this thing slow! The turbo spool-up easily took over a second before anything meaningful happened. I kept the car for under 30 days before trading it in.

Welcome back:D.

Not sure who, but I remember someone asking if the top speed of the 19 inch all season tires on the 2020 GT AWD will be different than than the summer tires. saw this posted on Kia's website

Yes, because the A/S Michelins are either speed rated V or W. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Plus is rated at 149 MPH, which would be a "V" speed rating. I doubt that Kia would limit the A/S at exactly the tire's speed rating; so whatever A/S 19" Michelins the Stinger has must be "W" rated (168 MPH) to be on the safe side.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
2020 specs are up on the Kia site. Only things I've noticed is GTS Orange is available on the GT2 trim, staggered all-seasons on AWD models and in the 360 mode the exhaust tips look slightly different.

GTS orange is a standard color now?! im never going to get a stinger if i keep waiting for the newest and coolest to come down in price lol. was planning on a used blue this spring but ORANGE!!!! damn you!!!!

There goes 1/800 being anything more than carbon fiber bits and a badge for me

They really need to make a special edition SPECIAL , engine tune , body kit , better brakes , sport exhaust etc !

the marketing peeps there need to up their game if they want want more brand credibility , KHG poach all the designer and engineers types from the right brands , now maybe a brand strategist ........................these are easy misses for them

I don't see the issue: the GTS remains a unique 1/800 model: the color is only on the 2020 GT2, without D-AWD or carbon accents. Only the Orange color is used again. D-AWD is not a 2020 option on any trim, afaik. Neither are carbon accents, or alcantra or the suede headliner.

I see the issue: mine will only be known to people who look at the minute details like you did, lmfao

To everyone else, it's just another orange Stinger, now  hahaha

You don't like being the owner of a well kept secret? It only matters what you have when everybody else knows about it? Think about that for a while.

You misunderstand: I wouldn't have paid more for a GTS if a lot of it would end up meaningless. I would have just gotten a GT. I paid for it thinking, "alright, well if this one's more unique, I can see it being $5k more than a base model". The GT2 is not a base model, granted, but the fact that the color and the badging are lost takes away a part of me paying more for what amounts to a GT with some accent pieces and destroys a bit of the value I thought I paid for. Think about that for awhile. ;)

I agree , if this car was a cult classic , those elements would matter much more , In a Stinger , it was really about the color !

I was pretty sure when we first heard about the GTS, that Fed Orange was going to be a 2020 color. I'm just surprised that Kia limited it to the GT2. The bigger Stinger script centered over the rear plate isn't a surprise either, since it looks so much better than the dinky script, and is probably the single most common aesthetic mod owners have done.

I saw a Fed Orange in person and it was simply eye-catching.

Speaking of "limited" editions, how about a V8 version? :D

Be nice but I already have mine now. Can't imagine Kia going down that route. More likely electric.
