Community,

I currently sit stock but will be purchasing a JB4 + Plugs + Intake/VT Big Mouth as my first performance modification.

I do not want to risk any overheating issues or mechanical breakdown due to any lack of preparation. Will I be okay running JB4 MAP 2 or 3 with a stock FMIC & Internals over time? My buddy had to switch his fuel pump to run E85 on his STI.

I've read re-gapping new plugs and installing an intake + VT big mouth will suffice for reducing temps.

Not willing to explore higher MAP levels at all.

(Location: NYC | Driving Style: Daily but Spirited, idle engine-occasionally | Road Conditions: Traffic & pot hole ridden )

Thanks in Advance!

Currently Terry's Stinger is running fully stock, except for the BMS intake, without problems.
Long term is hard to know, but keep in mind that long term effects are hard to know currently as the platform is still new to the market.

Having a blast running Map 2 as DD, Map 3 often enough. Mods on my sig, also mixing Boostane with the local 92 pump to get to 96-97 octane. I don't trust the 92 pump unaltered to do well.

Warning: if you get used to 2 or higher and then have to drop it down to 0/1 for whatever inane reason, you will experience withdrawal symptoms immediately.

First reaction: WTAF, is it broken? Followed by the realization that, no, that's just stock...

What Mods you got? Reading the forum on my phone so can't see your Mods. Will be getting my Jb4 next week!

Loving my jb4 I only stay in map 1 or 2 as I only have the cold air intake upgrade and now the jb4 and plugs and I run on 91 octane the car seems to run really well. I cant wait to do some more upgrades so I cant try more maps out

FYI, you don’t need more mods to try other maps. You simply need more octane. Either an e30 mix or Boostane will let you run map3 & map5.

Well that's not what I was told and I'm not willing to chance it thanks though. I'll build up to it

Told by who? Terry, owner of BMS, ran every map 1-8 with just intakes and still has completely stock exhaust, intercooler, etc. even running WMI/map8 with an extra 7-8psi. That’s as much boost as you can run with the JB4 so you’ve been seriously misinformed and/or someone is trying to sell you aftermarket parts.

Wow thanks for all the information now I know what's really up. I was just nervous about messing my stinger up. Just wanted to do it right and build a strong stinger

Just plugs and 93 you can run 3

With a name of Richie Rich ....why would you give a rats azz if it broke...just buy another....lol
all kidding aside....do the DIY intake which is cheap and works.....run map 3 with 4 gals of e85 in a full tank....btw that's Terry's recipe...I run map 3 all day long...be sure and get the full meal deal with Bluetooth connection ! Your jb4 logs will tell us if the motor is happy or not......:) Wash
