How to remove the Kia badge and install the E badge on the Kia Stinger hood

Have any of you installed the new front badge on a Stinger that has the clear "bra" installed from the factory? If so, did you just put it over it?

im about to replace my badge and put a clear bra on. from what i know they have software that cuts around the emblem. id advise to replace badge first

If I may ask: what is a ‘clear bra’??

I actually had someone install this for me, but it's a little low I think. What do you guys think?

I recommend using a hair dryer. I removed my back Kia badge with fishing line and the front with dental floss. I had a couple scratches on the back and no scratches on the front. So you may want to use dental floss for a while and when you stop making process switch to fishing line.

You really just use dental floss? I tried and it’s not working well at all! Taking for ever.. took my rear badges off on the lower part of car but not the main hood and hatch yet.. just doesn’t want to come off

That's because there is double side tape in between the pins, where the dental floss cannot get to and cut through. If you have the sides already off, pry it off carefully.

Thanks I’ll need some rubber squeegee things then.. not sure how else to get between paint and badge to pry..

Just did mine today I used a old credit card I had laying around.

I just did my front and back badge replacement this weekend. I started with heat and dental floss, but that was not going well.

In the end I ended up getting 10 lb fishing line and plastic spreaders to help pry once most of the adhesive was cut. I placed painters tape all around the badges as well. When you are sliding the fishing line back and forth pull towards you to minimize the friction on the car. I also soaked the area with goo gone before starting.

Getting the left over adhesive off was not fun. Lots of goo gone and heat did the trick. I just used my thumb to roll it off. It was slow but no scratches.

Where did you get those scrapers?

I just had very good luck using nylon lockout wedges photos.app.goo.gl/BfkKrdkhWay99rmi6

They are cheap, they look like this amazon.com/iit-Emergency-Door-Lockout-Wedge/dp/B07H4X7P8S/ref=sr_1_46?ie=UTF8&qid=1538580281&sr=8-46&keywords=lockout+wedge

Buy it in addition to this amazon.com/Wedge-BUZIFU-Pieces-Elevating-Windows/dp/B07C3P2B6T and amazon.com/Quick-Max-Long-Reach-Tool/dp/B019V1TLJY and be the hero to your friends never having to pay a locksmith, Not that we could lock our keys in if we tried.

I really like that idea! I'm going to throw a few layers of painters tape around the emblem, and just work it really slow.

What are your thoughts on just slowly increasing the pressure with just the lockout wedges? No heat, no fishing line? Do you think over the course of a few hours in the sun, and slowly increasing the pressure the emblem would release cleanly? Mainly asking since I see so many paint issues when pulling these off.

I used heat (Standard blow dryer) while slowly pushing them all in twords the center, it was very effortless, slow, safe and methodical. I used a bit of fishing line to pull the emblem up enough that the wedges got a foothold. A few minutes with a blow dryer made it so all the wedges could keep coming together until they hit the 3 pins and it came off easy. That glue is serious stuff.

Not sure if sun/time in hours will do it, but this seemed like a very low intensity/low risk solution, worth a try, not rushing it and giving the wedges time to weaken the stretched glue seems to work.

I wish the emblem with cutoff posts sold here had only one removed, I watched the video on Youtube and not having the good 2 posts might be an issue when aligning the E badge. should I hotglue some plastic guides ? What do you think ?
