I was just wondering how much G-Force is felt when accelerating in the Stinger 3.3tt?

I ask because every time I ride in my friends v8 which produces similar power to stinger circa 270kW it feels like I’m in a rocket taking off into the sky and I get glued into the seat even during moderate acceleration.

Does the stinger 3.3tt produce similar sensation?

Does the stinger always produce neck snapping g-force or is it only during hard acceleration?

I have driven the GT briefly - but not enough to draw comparison.

well the stinger has a G-force monitor setting on the cluster but i hardly look at it. I don't remember on top of me head how much it goes up too. but during hard acceleration yes ur head goes back into the seat always. but in sports mode well i punch it half of throttle theres also g force not even WOT. theres so much torque u can feel it.hope this helps.

Stock 0-100 kph is around 4.6s, that's 5.8 m/s/s - 1G is 9.8, so that's around 0.6G accelleration average.

So in this case.. the stinger will feel like a big 6L V8 when accelerating. By that i mean the feeling of infinite acceleration and sustained feeling of being thrown back into the seat.. nit just for the first gear

Im glad you asked this question. My stroker z06 with the six speed and nitto drag radials will flat lay me back....but my stinger with the jb4 will lay me back too but in a different way....its hard to describe....theres no noise to speak of in the stinger, and with the 8 speed auto you are flying and feeling the push....on map3 yesterday the traction control couldn't even catch up ...so yes the lil stinger gives me a good push in the butt-o-meter ....its smooooother im thinking :) Wash

I traded a 6L V8 (2012 VEII SSV) for my Stinger so I’ve got some fairly recent comparative experience. I would say the Stinger accelerates much quicker than the V8 and the “thrown back in the seat” prize also goes to the Stinger through the whole acceleration range. It’s difficult to gauge precisely because after 5 seconds of acceleration in the Stinger you’re getting a speeding ticket and after about 7 seconds you’re losing your licence.
The V8 does have lots of high end torque which does give you that feeling of infinite acceleration. Mine was a 6sp manual vs the 8sp Stinger so the longer interval between gear changes in the V8 also contributes to the infinite acceleration feeling.

TL;DR The Stinger feels quite different to a V8 under acceleration and I like the Stinger better.

I agree, but in addition to this the Stingers acceleration is very linear thus pushing into your seat & holding you there whereas the V8 acceleration though the gears is more of a “stepped” type process therefore can be “jerky” eg: pushes you back into the seat, then a release in gear change & so on.

Yes, that’s true. Good point.

Agree there.. my daughter's C5 has similar numbers but the way the Stinger produces max torque so early makes it feel faster.

We can't wait to get them both to the strip for some official side-by-side comparisons...

It's worth noting that the Stinger was clearly underrated from the factory when it comes to torque. I've seen dyno results putting nearly the full 376 ft/lb to the ground stock. When Doug Demuro reviewed the Stinger he said he had just finished driving a Lexus RCF with a 5.0L V8 at 476hp and he said the Stinger felt almost just as fast. That should tell you something.

My HS buddy had a buick grand national that had just about every kenny bell add on and some other stuff. I have never felt boosted power like that little 3.8. I have owned, driven or own a bunch of fast cars over the years. It would pitch the car sideways when it banged second gear, and continue to slide until it was doing 65 mph. Crazy "Quick" car, but it was boosted out by 80mph.
